Stoked to have had a good salesman convince me to get into my first brand new car and first ever Tacoma. Also didn't settle and went for the TRD Off-Road model so I could get a little more rowdy! Took it out for the first time to Otay Truck trail out of San Diego. Some gnarly little side options the Taco made short work of! Utilized 4 low for the first time! Also this may be a stupid question but when in 4 low, is it ok to put the transmission in park? Or is neutral and parking brake better? Had to get out a few times and scope lines but wasn't sure if leaving it in 4 low parked was ok.

Just signed up,picked up a new Tacoma 2 weeks ago. A move to Alaska is in my future this year and I knew I’d need a 4x4 getting and living there. Went to test drive some at the dealership in a downpour an hour before close and they happened to offer me waaay to much for my beat up and payed off Chevy truck,so hear I am lol. I got the sport knowing full well I’d only take it OffRoad for camping and mainly needed the 4x4 for snow and ice. But now since I’ve been lurking I’m already looking at ARB air lockers and Bilstein lifts and leafs,so we’ll see how long I can keep it on the pavement.

    Glad to be here.

    Hi All,

Been lurking here for the past couple of weeks as I just bought a new to me 2010 Tacoma Access cab TRD Off Road. Previously had a 2002 of the same variation. Looking forward to modding this truck as I’ve never done that before (lift, bumpers, lights, etc.) looking forward to posting build as progress happens.

Bought my first new vehicle and first Tacoma on Feb 27. Was skeptical about getting back into a mid sized truck again, but I have no complaints other than not having as much space in the front of the cabin. Came from a 2017 Ram 1500. May she rest in peace.

I’m from Los Angeles County, California. I’m a living the beautiful civilian life now. Finally pulled the trigger and bought me a 2018 TRD Off Road. Switched from a Los Angeles County, California Accord so I’m still getting used to visiting the pump twice as often. I didn’t buy this truck for the fuel mileage anyways lol. I think my only dislike so far on the truck is the lack of throttle response and feeling like it struggles to get up to highway speeds without me having to mash the gas pedal and guzzle fuel. Is this a normal thing? I’ve been browsing through the different posts trying to see if this is a normal thing or not. Overall I bought this truck for daily driving with the ability to take it off-road comfortably.

Welcome to TW! Congrats on new taco, you will love it. The throttle response is one of my biggest complains as well. You can notice especially in MT when trying to rev match. Not sure if you havev AT or MT. Band aid solution is pedal commander, which increases voltage output from your pedal and has different settings(sport, city, eco) Seems to work for some guys, im gonna try it soon. The better solution is OV Tune, which is about 700$+. You can find a thread on it and most of guys are super happy with it. It will also make your truck not as sluggish especially with AT.
These engines make most of their power in higher RPM so thats why you have to push pedal down sometimes. Again, OV tune seems to fix that problem.

Good luck and lets see some pics of your taco!

    Hello everyone!
I just bought my first Tacoma the other day, a dreamy 2001 Black TRD Prerunner. Has 190k miles, it's 2wd auto. Nothing exciting just yet but it's lifted and it's perfect.

Hello everyone, my name is Will, I live in Central Valley California very closed to the LA area. I just bought a new truck. Never owned a truck before, so I’m pretty excited! Can’t wait to take it out to big bear or mammoth. I go snowboarding every other weekend. Hated going up there with my little Acura lol. Also want to do some offroading obviously. I went with the TRD PRO 19 in white. This thing is a beauty. Pretty stocked to be part of the Tacoma community :D

    Hello there All!

Last Thursday I bought my 4th Toyota Pickup, my 2nd Tacoma.

This one tops the other three by a long shot!

2016 Tacoma Limited 4x4, with only 14,600 miles on it! Yes, that's 14,600 miles!

    2016Tacoma-1.jpg

My previous Toyota pickups included a 2004 Tacoma Crew Cab TRD, 100_1104.jpg

    a '93 extra cab and a '88 standard cab.

In November of 2015, I traded my '04 Tacoma for a 2015 Highlander. I had owned it since November '06.
