Hello, I am a new and proud owner of a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 2.4l 2wd and i'm happy to be here for advice and other questions I have regarding my TACO. This is my first Tacoma purchase I bought the truck it has 338,000 miles on it and has a few small issues I will be looking to fix myself. I basically stole the truck from the guy I purchased it from and he had no clue how to work on vehicles.

So I've always wanted a Toyota Truck, since I was like 5. Almost owned a 2wd in 2003, but ended up going with the cheaper Mazda B2300. Sold the Mazda for a Scion XA 5 speed, which I loved. Started doing some camping and forest road driving so I sold the Scion for a 4x4 Patriot, sold that for a Renegade TH.
All those cars except the Renegade(10,000 miles), were brand new. I just couldn't get over the stigma of buying a used car. A new Toyota was no where near my price point, mainly because I waste money on new cars every 3-5 years.

I finally gave in. I have kayaks, bikes, I hated loading those things on to a SUV. I needed a truck! The plan was to sell the Renegade, which was worth what I owed, and buy a truck, a small, regular cab, 4x4 for less than 7000 dollars. Since this was to be my daily I wanted less than 100k miles. 2 trucks seemed to fall into that criteria. Dakotas, and S10s, I almost gave in and got a dodge.

I kept looking, for weeks, and finally I found, a 1 owner, full service history, 104,000 mile 2002 Tacoma SR5. It was even sold at a Toyota dealership. But they wanted 8 grad, and it was 50 miles from my house.

So I drove up there took it for a test drive, and fell in love with it. Offered them 6k then 6.5K, was ready to walk away and they threw me the keys. Then, they even bought the Renegade.

Took it home made an appointment with a local dear to have it checked out, and it's cherry. The only problem they found was crack in the washer fluid reservoir, but said it wasn't leaking and to just keep and eye on it.

Hello Tacomaworld! Traded in my 07 FJ yesterday for a 2019 OR LB in cement. The information from this site was very valuable in helping me figure out what I wanted in my truck and making sure I didn’t get my fleeced negotiating price. Had a 1990 2wd pickup in college and a 94 T100 after that. Loving the new rig!

    :hattip:Hi Taco people,
I’m a long time fan and owner of many Toyota’s over the years, love these vehicles and dependability is far better than most others....they know who they are! :poking:

Anyway, I just ordered my 2020 Tacoma Limited from George Jackson Toyota near Renfrew, Ontario. I’m now waiting for my new truck:playball:

I’ll be looking for a decent hard tonneau cover to add to my truck if anyone has a suggestion?

Happy to be part of this forum, have a great fall season everyone :canada:

Hey everyone first time taco owner here. Purchased a 18 TRD off-road DC SB a few months back and absolutely love it. Looking to eventually do some upgrades mostly for long travel camping trips with the fiancé.

New member, but have been reading several of these threads for the last few months. Received my 2020 TRD ORP SB a little over a week ago, after trading in my leased 2016 4Runner. Grew up driving 4Rs, but change was in order. Hoping to further utilize the forums to make the truck further utilitarian, and something I can have a little fun in.F82E5000-D69A-46D5-886A-93D03A4D91FB.jpg

New member here, picked up my 2015 DC TRD sport 4WD two months ago after driving a civic(first car) for close to 10 years. Had a 97 ranger for a bit and just missed having a truck after getting rid of it & the tacoma was always my dream truck!

Hey Everyone - new member here! Just traded in my prized Subaru in for a new 19 Taco TRD Pro in Super White. I thought I would miss the Subaru more than I do, but this thing just makes me grin ear to ear every time I look at it!

Plan on keeping it stock for the time being, but I know that I'll eventually add some modifications along the way. Any recommendations on what should come first?

    Thanks!

    Welcome and truck:cheers:
First thing should be sliders not just for off-roading but also parking lots against door dings. Many vendors to chose from.
I have sos Offroad concepts and love them.
