Its seems like we see eye to eye on this issue. Coke, Keenex and bandaids are all generic terms and should be used when refering to any derivation of the above mentioned items. And yes, "koozie" is the correct term for the beer insulator. Maverick mentioned "can cooler", which is not an accurate description but does not send me into a rage like when i hear the word "pop".
Absolutely not, i've heard "cotton swab" and that is acceptable but the correct term is Q-tip.

I think crooks and i might just get along! He seems to have almost as much irrational hatred and intolorance for regional differences as i do. Traits like that rare in a man. I bet we could drink together and find all kinds of stuff to hate for no real reason. I can see it now.... "Damn you Cumulus clouds!!! Why you gotta be so 'Cumulus' all the time!!! and why the hell are you so high up? You think you're better than me?!?!" It's safe to say thats probably how it would go down. Except i would probably throw a bottle at a cloud then fall down and throw up.

You dirty bastard! You gotta find my button then press it don't you? All i know is that if you come to the Carolina Meet and say the word "pop" i'm gonna back you're truck into a tree. I've done it once already, i bet i can do it again! BTW, welcome to the Alliance!

First of all, I'd better get this out of the way while I can:
:bananadance: :bananadance: Page 9! :bananadance: :bananadance:

(for those late to the game, I'd made it my goal in life to have the longest new member thread ever)

Hate to break it to you, but the cumulus clouds are actually pretty low. It's the cirrus ones that are up so high.

Why do all the hypothetical situations involving you end up with vomiting?

Yeah, but cumulus clouds are still higher than we are...at least when they're not fog.

Thanks for the backup on the term koozie, guys. I was worried I was saying something obscene in Canadian or something. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

"Whyd they put the toilet in the middle of the room?" I don't know if I would be yelling at the clouds or if I would be shouting that I wanted to go see me some taters! Yes, when i get inebriated I tend to call a woman's breasts her taters. Just because of the mere fact any type of taters you can get you can get the same in breasts. Twice baked taters, french taters, baked taters, mashed taters, tater tots, ect... Need I go on much further about my abilities to ramble?

And to answer your question, sometimes you have to vomit to teach people a lesson.

And here I thought "tater tot" was Ron White's son's alias. It's the followup to his "they call me tater salad" bit.

Oh, and you forgot sweet taters in your list.

OK, here's another regional terminology question. What do you call two locations that are diagonal across an intersection? I've always heard it called catty-corner, but recently I also heard kitty-corner. Doncha just love the American language? Sometimes I think we make up words just to make it hard for non-native speakers.

And just to spark more conversation (page 10 can't be far), what's the relationship between lunch, dinner, and supper? I don't even think that's consistent within Texas. To me, dinner is kinda redundant. It just means a large-ish meal. Could be at noontime or even in the evening. But lunch means noon-ish, and supper means evening.

Where i live you have breakfast, lunch and dinner/supper. dinner and supper and interchangable and neither is technically wrong, although i use supper more often. However, when in the low part of the state in coastal regions, i find that brunch is fairly common. My friends in Charleston go to brunch every sunday morning which includes eggs benedict with crab cakes, fruit, shrimp and grits, cajun popcorn (deep fried crawdads with chipotle sauce) and fried green tomatoes.... plus alot of momosas (sp) and bloody mary's. Brunch is my favorite part of visiting charleston!

Let's get the preliminaries out of the way:
:bananadance: :bananadance: Page 10! :bananadance: :bananadance:

Well then, when is Sunday Dinner if not at lunchtime?

I didn't even mention brunch. That's a late breakfast/early lunch. Sounds like a good place your friends have found. I'd eat every bit of that. But mimosas and bloody mary's are too metrosexual for my taste. A tequila sunrise with brunch is about as far as I'd go.

Sunday dinner is at night at supper time.

Yeah, the brunch place is great, its called Vickeries, Viper may know what i'm talking about....
anyway, mimosas are kinda metro but its a good drink for 10AM since there is OJ in it. Its like a healthy breakfast cocktail :) And if you have ever had a good bloody mary you wouldn't be calling them Metro. I went to visit one of my good friends in charleston and we went to see her dad on sunday. He makes his own bloody mary mix and then plops a big thing of horshradish on top then mixes it. Its very good if you like spicy stuff. I think he uses some kind of habanero extract in his mix. Anyway, i consider myself a fairly seasoned and fairly heavy drinker and just one gave me a really REALLY good buzz. She and her dad are Indian (feather indian not dot indian) so they drink alot and have a really high tolorance. I always make fun of her for drinking so much "firewater". Anyway, if you get it done right a bloody mary will put hair on your chest and is very far from metro

Do you know what a tequila sunrise is? OJ+tequila+grenadine. Tequila is more manly than champagne.

But they put celery in 'em. I don't like veggies with my drinks. Plus, I just don't like tomato juice.
