Apparently it does help you stop in some conditions.

Ehhh I'd say it depends on your tires. Given he lost control, 65 was certainly too fast but if you have good tires 35 is too slow. That can be a danger in and of itself, if everyone else is going 45-50 (which is what I would likely be doing)

That said I hate those conditions the most, clear tracks and snow/slush in the middle of lanes/between. I much prefer when the roads are completely covered, it's when you have different traction at different wheels that things tend to go south.

Thats just for engaging it when you are driving.
Use 4wd lots in the winter, accelerating away from stop lights on ice, driving on ice, going up hills that are icy.
Nothing crappier than a 2wd truck on ice.

In conditions like that, if AT you should be in S4 or even S3 so that when you take your foot off the gas you get some engine breaking. I never use D when in 4WD.

It says don't transition into 4hi I believe. Nothing about a limiting speed for actually driving

where can you find that information? The only one I found are just how you switch from 2wd to 4h in the manual. I’m not trying to say you wrong but I was look for that answer a while ago and haven’t see one.

Correct. Need to be under 60 mph to go from 2H to 4H, but once in 4H there is no max speed stated in the manual (that I could find).

    Nice one.... lol

you’re fortunate. I don’t care what tires or vehicle someone has, they can die crossing the burm of snow between lanes... you did good not over reacting which would have definitely wrecked you

Get some snow tires it will be much better.

There is also a thread somewhere on here about a guy driving to AK in the winter. It was actually very informative and worth a read.
He started in CA? if I recall

Yeah, I'd have to admit I'd be the guy going 60 in the snow. But I either stay in the snow or slow down to change lanes then speed up again. You can manage no traction lol, you can't manage different forces on each side with no traction...
    Glad your ok OP!
? I'd want my engine in neutral personally if I had to emergency stop. The flywheel doesn't have abs.
