Drove home a month and a half ago with the '21 TRD OR and I'm loving every $%@#! minute of it. Bolted on running boards tonight. Tomorrow I attach the roof rack. My goal is for it to be full-on-dad-truck-mode by July. I just need to find some New Balance and cargo shorts to match.

Welcome to TW! Nice color! Just put my roof rack on last night! Going on a bit of a trip tomorrow to test it out. What kind did you get?

I went with the OEM Toyota roof rack. Ordered it from a dealer at a pretty good discount with free shipping. Just haven't gotten around to installing it yet but tomorrow IS the day! Racks like yours look awesome AF, but I won't be doing anything that'll require that kind of hardware. Just wanted something to put stuff up top; fishing rods, a cargo box, etc.

    What's next on your list?

I was going to go with the OEM option but ended up getting distracted by the aftermarket options and almost forgot about OEM. Luckily I found a decent price for a used one. I'll likely only use it for the same as you, honestly.

I'm going to look at a topper/shell tomorrow. Can't wait to have covered storage and a place to cary 4'x8' sheet of plywood flat again (roof)!

I tell ya...the aftermarket scene? It could bankrupt me if I'm not careful. Keeping the itchy-buy-finger in check will be difficult. So far I've resisted temptation and stuck with function over form. Not sure how long that'll last!

That right there is the only negative I've found so far. I had a full-size truck before this. It wasn't a deal breaker of course, but I'll just have to be creative getting sheet goods home!

Stay strong and resist! I have about 10 versions of my build planned out, but I keep going back to the idea of value based functionality. Sure I want my truck to look good, but function first, value second, appearance third.

Same here. Blew my mind the first time I laid a sheet in the back and realized the inside of the wheel wells were only ~42"... o_O That's the perfect size for a sheet to NEVER fit right!

My only other minor gripe are the stock tires for an "Off-Road" package. The GY aren't the worst, but they are laughable as all terrains. However, I understand that most TRD OR trucks will probably never even see a dirt road, so I get it.

    Over all pretty minor gripes.

Thanks! I thought the same thing when I saw someone else's Tacoma, and subsequently every Tacoma I saw. That's how I ended up in this one. Driving home on the highway, passed a Tacoma and thought "That's a nice !@#% truck". The next day, traded in my blue oval for this. Zero regrets.

+1 to that. Though I can't fault Toyota for squeezing every bit of fuel economy they could out of it from the factory using these tires. Makes the EPA estimates look a lot better on paper! You're right, though. They're not the worst. They'll get me thru the warranty period, dirt roads and a few non-technical trails. Once it's time to replace them? Bring on the good stuff...

    Welcome!

Don't forget to silicon the $hit out of the roof rack brackets.

I had to take mine off like 3 times just to get it right.
