Your tax dollars are paying for it. Dial 911 and ask for a wrecker, they keep a list. I'm a firefighter and spend time in the dispatch center. Trust me they get dumber calls than one asking for a wrecker.

My old ford broke down on the side of the intestate once. Fuel pump went out. Called 911 stated it was not an emergency and needed a wrecker, 30 minutes later I was riding with the driver back to the shop. Worse part was driving 3 hours back to get the truck after they fixed it. Winter, no garage, and the whole bill was cheaper than them hauling the truck to my house.

Obviously, I got lucky on the wait time. Your insurance might reimburse you some for a tow bill if you go out of "network". Not sure on AAA.

If it comes down to you getting charred or some more damage than just fire and smoke damage it really should be a no brainer. If the vehicle is already got flames coming out the dry Chem isn't going to really be adding much more to it.

With all do respect, its a pick up truck with all the tools and items you need to fix it in 5 mins, Move the truck out of the way of the traffic or have your girl direct traffic around you while you crack 5 lug nuts and swap the full size spare under the bed and get home in time for the Supercross race...Call or send a letter to Toyota asking for your money back and removal of the Toyota care service. Keep complaining to Toyota and they will throw you some kind of a bone. Next time change it yourself.

Does it promise to be responding to calls within a fixed period of time?

Does it promise that no vehicles will break down on holidays, even one so insignificant as Valentine's Day?

Does it promise that you'll always be satisfied?

No, no, and no. What it says is that they'll provide free of charge roadside assistance.

    It did that.

OP complaining about time and choosing to be completely helpless while also choosing to wait for a service truck is on him, he made every choice.

Inconvenient? Sure. Most flat tires are.

Who's at fault? OP or his expectations?

    I say both.

I understand the OP's frustration and all, and yes, the response time was not acceptable. Also will second other's recommendations of getting AAA. I loved my keys in the bed of my Tacoma with the tonneau cover locked as well and AAA was there in 15 minutes. used a bladder to create enough space to reach in and grab them.

Now with all that said, and although I haven't read through this entire thread, but have to say really? You waited for another man to come along and change your tire???!!! Dude, you just lost your man card. And then you let your GF take a pic of the highway patrol doing it for you while you pretended to help?!?! You sir, need to grow a pair and man up and learn how to change your own tires and stop being a whiner.

I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't have a girlfriend after this incident. She probably saw the highway patrol as more of a man than you. I mean really, you didn't think that you may just look like the biggest wuss whining and complaining because you couldn't/ wouldn't/ didn't want to change your own tire on your own truck?!

EDIT* Smugly I did not realize you are not the OP and I have no idea what was said to offend you my apologizes.

Having said that I stand behind my statement.

Its tough love, This post "My first Tacoma may be my last" we expecting you to be complaining about the transmission dropping out of the truck in reverse or the wheel fell off on the highway or even something really wacky and one off just to find out that your pissed you waited 3 hrs for someone else to come change a tire. Makes people want to "Break your Chops"

There needs to be a "Last Ban" area, kinda like the "Latest Member".

I didn't read anywhere that said he couldn't change it. The officer was nice enough to help. Props to him.

I'm really not sure why people keep saying he's in the wrong here. Yes it's just an advertised service to help sell vehicles. But if it's of no use? Then toyota shouldn't advertise it.

Could he of limped to a safer spot to change it? Yep. But if he has this available to him, then instead of ruining his wheel and tire beyond repair, why not use it?

Yes, maybe the price of a new wheel and tire is nothing to some of you. Personally a couple hundred dollars or more is not something I just brush away. So if I had the option of a tow truck showing up free of charge, guess which option I'd pick?

Me personally since I don't have any service and was in a bad spot, I'd call for an officer. I wouldn't expect him or her to help me change it, but directing traffic away while I swapped it out would solve my issue easily. No damage to my wheel or further damage to the tire limping away. Maybe I save myself a few bucks. Again though, nice of that officer to lend a hand to change it.

No problem! I'm being singled out by this forerunner guy, I stepped into this thread after 6 pages deep of people jumping on the OP, and he's bullying me. He did this the last time when he came in on the middle of a conversation and banned me for a week with not warning at all. I didn't even know I was saying anything wrong.

Edit: I want to add, that I had never been kicked off or band before that incident, it just came out of the blue
