A timeline of my head units from 2013-present! We purchased the truck in September and I put up with the factory stereo system until March 2013...

I had the Pioneer AT-1305C component speakers installed at the same time as the Pioneer single-DIN head unit, and they lasted probably four years until I blew one of the woofers out. Now, none of my original Pioneer system remains!

@PennSilverTaco ill have to check dimensions on the dash and see what I can fit, but it’d be cool if I could squeeze a touchscreen deck in it. Makes me wonder how much power the stereo would suck off the battery, especially with a winch already wired on it.
I’ve played the bass powered dimming headlight game before, don’t really want to do it again... hahaha

Ahhh so you're the one who bought it haha. I was eyeing it on Craigslist for a while, almost sold mine to buy it. Looks like a hell of a nice truck. Didn't want that topper the previous owner had on it?

Great find, I'm not jealous at all... :jellydance:

Do you know which coils you have? Full dakar leaf pack?

Haha yeah dude, I test drove it sunday and the dude told me he had a couple guys coming to buy it monday... Bought it on the spot.

That Alu-Cab is a sweet topper but without an extra window in the back of the cab it leaves a massive blind spot on both sides of the truck. That plus an extra 2k wasn't worth it for me. Tonneau cover should do fine.

Yep, 883 coils on the front, and dakar leaf packs in the rear. CS019's I believe.

Ahh I guess the extra weight of the V6 and bumper soften those coils a bit. I'm running 880s, but have the 2.7l. Wish I'd gone 881, will probably swap eventually

Oh yeah the lack of windows is definitely a big negative. I have a regular topper with side windows and it's hard enough to see out of.
Good luck with the truck man, hope to see more of it on here. Oh and welcome to TW

I’ve got no frame of comparison, but yeah those coils aren’t too bad up front. The leaf packs are definitely a little rough with the truck empty. I bet if a couple hundred pounds go in the back it would smooth out though.

Shoot, didn't see you were near Denver, so am I! We should get out sometime. Yeah the Dakars are bouncy without any weight in the bed, I run a camper shell pretty much full time and that helps a bit:

Need to finish my drawer platform and load it up to help these leafs settle a bit.

Nice man! Yeah for sure, do you have weekends free? I’ll shoot you a message next time I’m planning to hit up some trails.

Yepp, I'm usually free on the weekends. Definitely looking to do some wheeling and camping now that it's warming up in the mountains

Sweet Truck! That V6 is sic. I also recently bought a built regular cab. I put a stereo in it as well as a few other mods so far. Check out the link in my sig below if you're interested for some possible ideas.

Nice man, I’ll be in touch with ya!

Thanks man, I dig your build. Like the dome light idea for sure. I’ve gotta get some bed security before any other mods, but the stereo looks well done too!

So I tossed an extra pelican case I had in the bed today and it fit damn near perfect. Would make a great trail box but I’m trying to figure out a way to secure it some way besides a ratchet strap to the front two bed hooks... anyone ever done anything similar?
