    Hello all,
I am a new member and am soon to be a first-time Tacoma owner. At the end of June, I went to a local Toyota dealership to buy a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport that was listed on the dealer's website. Well, I learned that most of Tacomas were in transit not in the dealer lot. Not knowing the current vehicle shortage, I went to another Toyota dealership and it was pretty much the same. So I ended up ordering the truck without seeing it. The dealer has several Tacomas coming in their pipeline (both dealerships didn't take factory orders). The salesperson told me it could take up to 12 weeks to get new Tacomas delivered to the dealership. I ordered mine on June 28th. Yesterday, I spoke with my salesperson to check the ETA of the truck. The set date for the production of the vehicle on the order is Sept 2nd. And I could take another 15 to 30 days to get it delivered to the dealership. Anyway, this is my experience with purchasing a new Tacoma during the chip shortage.

    Cheers!

I suggest you take a nice test ride and look things over carefully before concluding your purchase.

There are an unusual (well, to me) number of people on here that gripe about things on their truck that a good test drive and exam would have exposed up front, at least giving them the choice of deciding go/no go.

OTOH, there are also piles of buyers who like them just fine.

Welcome, best wishes that it's what you want!

Talking head on some business channel I watch said Toyota had 8 days inventory (that was June-ish). The dealer(s) can sell whatever they get.

Same, went to 4 different dealerships after checking the website saying they had inventory, but quickly found out they were "en route" or had a date scheduled to arrive and some already had a deposit on them. After negotiation on price, without giving my social or much information, I was able to discuss an out the door price, via email, then went to the dealership put a $1500 deposit down and then 3 weeks later the truck arrive and I got to inspect it, test drive it and then sign the deal.
