HI guys...need some help. Got a 2017 tacoma sr utility package and added fog lights. They have their own switch and wiring package as the truck did not come pre-wired. I'm not sure if it is a feature of the fog lights or the truck but the lights will not come on unless the ignition is turned on (but truck need not be started) and when you press the button to turn off the lights even with truck off and key out of the ignition they stay on for about 15 to 30 seconds then go off and won't come on unless you again put the key in the ignition and turn it to on. So Halloween night, sitting outside waiting for the trick or treaters....key not in the truck but in my pocket.... the fogs come on and a few minutes later go off. About 10 or 20 minutes later they came on again...then after a couple of minutes went off. Have not noticed that happen again until tonight. This time we were in the house but the key was in the ignition but not on and I happened to be looking outside and noticed they were on again. I think I will name the truck Carrie!! The wiring was tied into the fog lights spot in the fuse box under the hood and the ignition spot as well. Anyone else ever have this issue???

Try checking out the relay the kit came. Its the only place I can think of where you have power that could be applied randomly like that. Maybe something is shorting around there.

If that doesn't work go with an exorcism.

Lol...well he is not all that fond of me...always gives me the stink eye. But he loves my husband. Apparently he forgot who saved his butt and bottle fed him! If you search youtube for "Opie the ground hog" there's a bunch of videos of him. He's quite the character.

Ha! That's a landscape brick for him to grind his teeth on and keep the lettuce from falling off his feeding area. He has a voracious appetite in the summer. Right now he is in hibernation mode and barely comes out of his nest area. I haven't seen him in a couple weeks.

How do you activate the fogs? Column or aftermarket switch?

This is the kit but the guy had to send a second switch because the first didn't fit in the knockout spot on the dash and then we ended up getting different actual fogs because these ones just wouldn't adjust down enough and they were pointing at the sky. We didn't want to pull out all the wiring to return them so we just swapped out the fogs for a better pair.

So I have figured out the lights come on at about the same time everyday. It must be something in the computer that runs through some sort of diagnostic or something and activates the terminal we have the lights plugged into. They stay on for a couple of minutes then shut off.
