My GF drove her current/last Frontier for 10 years. That and the fact she is short and the Tacoma seats are not height adjustable are her primary reasons for going Nissan. Resale is a non issue for us... we drive to 200k+ miles. Her truck is the equivalent of my 2010 TRD Offroad. It is 4x4 double cab, has a rear locker, has the same shocks, the same Rugged Fails, even has the equivalent to ATRAC. I didn't even realise Nissan had a traction system like that. She can even get long travel front for super cheap by going to Titan lower arms, after market uca and Titan axles. She is only considering the OME up front, like I have. Its only 1.5" on the Frontier though. She is also wanting sliders and a Shrockworks front bumper. There may be more variety in Toyota parts but Nissan has all the mods Toyota has. I will say the Nissan forims do suck compared to the Toyota forums. ;)

Oh... and I do get 1 mpg better city and highway milage.

hahahah, Ask her how she can easily carry 13 water bottles. I think you also have a full size rear passenger windows in a dcab.
And I work construction, and can not believe the abuse the plastic bed has taken. Now the tailgate thats another issue.

    Lets see...

-Frontier has more power, is slower than the Taco
-Frontier has 4 wheel disc brakes, takes longer to stop than Taco
-Frontier has fully boxed frame, has issues with beds tweaking and touching cab(not sure exactly how prevalent this is but is something I saw when researching Tacos and Fronties)
    -Frontier likes to make milkshakes

must be using real quality parts to accomplish all of that

Having being co pilot in my brothers 2006 Nissan for years before getting my taco I have to defend it. He has had zero problems with the truck and he's pushing 70 to 80k miles. The truck performs, has been reliable, and has more stuff than my truck that is 2 years newer. I know it probably just a rivalry but the trucks seem so similar I wonder if they're incahoots. Also, yes Nissan's tend to be cheaper than Toyota's. I'm not saying I don't love my truck, I do, I'm just saying that I wouldnt be disappointed with a Nissan.

not to mention Taco's double cab has more room in the rear seats than the fronty......i mean maybe a 5yr old can sit back there but that could be pushing it :yay:

I could never own a different mid sized truck again. Tacoma has everything I want/need. And for those little things it may not have, there are endless aftermarket modifications to give you what yo want. Taco FTW.

Nissan seems to be adding "luxury" things (leather, sunroof) to try to pick up sales, since they are in a distant 2nd place.

I don't think a metal (rustable) bed is a benefit at all. The composite bed is superior.

I do like the utility track in the bed of the Nissan. I'm surprised Toyota has not improved their bed anchor system more than they have. Then again, it does not seem to be impeding sales...

Toyotas stock usable ground clearance, real 4x4 suspension system and 4x4 system...other than that? Nissan does have leather, so thats nice

i looked at the Frontier (and the Ranger, Colorado, Dakota etc), they do offer more amenities but if you actually plan on off roading there is just NO comparing these two trucks, they're not on the same level at all.

A friend of mine came with us wheeling last year in his Nissan Frontier 4x4 with a 3" lift, and he didnt even make it into the trails.. Basically got stuck as soon as we were off the gravel/mud road. We pulled him out, told him he should park it.. and he did. The rest of the day went swimmingly.

In my opinion the Frontiers are great on the road trucks.. but they need alot of help to get where our rigs can get simply with some decent A/T tires.
