I have no problem with the Frontier. I was planning on getting a Nismo Off Road years ago then never did. Then before I got the Taco I looked at the Pro-4x as well as the Xterra Off Road. Ultimately ended up getting my Taco but still like the Frontiers and think they a solid alternative. Only other midsize worth looking at. Sure everyone will have their story of seeing a Frontier stuck once so that obviously means that every Frontier is not capable of off roading. The same way people here get mad if one person says they saw a Taco stuck once lol.

I had an 02 tacoma until 07 and it was a great truck, but I outgrew it with towing four wheelers around, so I sold it, and went with a F-250. In 06 we bought a Nissan Pathfinder for my wife, and overall it was a pretty good vehicle. We just sold the Nissan and I bought her a 2011 4Runner, and I gotta say, that the 4 runner is so nice, that I am now looking to get a 2012 Tacoma again. In my opinion, Nissan has not changed the look of the Frontier enough to put it in the running. Plus I'm not crazy about the stance of the Frontier. For me personally, I just thin Toyo is hard to beat.

Ha ha. Nissan is junk. My 94 pickup out drives my friends frontier bad.

get a custom stereo system for your truck. it will out preform any factory stereo out there.

Want leather seats, get some corbeau's.

X2. I have 3 friends over the years that had Frontiers & had all sorts of problems with them before 100,000 miles. I had a Nissan Maxima many years ago & the transmission went @ 80,000 miles.

She might have more looks, but you have morereliability. Pretty sure more towing capacity but not sure. And hers is brand new. Put the nissan up against a 12 toyota tacoma with a package similiar to see what looks nicer.

What's wrong with a plastic bed? I'll take it any day over a metal one makes far more sense for some one that uses their truck as a truck never yet seen plastic rust when you scratch it.

The Tacoma is faster and has more torque. Better rated towing capacity I think too. And only the 4x4 Pro-4x has the locker, so If you have a TRDOR you'll atleast have that on her. My buddy has a 2011 Pro-4x. The ride's really nice. It's a really clean truck and turns a few heads, but it's no Tacoma. :)

EDIT: Also the Fronty's turning radius sucks.

Can you guys help me understand the difference in 4x4 capability that keeps being brought up?

Both have part time 4wd with chain driven transfer case with 4LO. Both have rear lockers. Both have Bilstein shocks and rugged trails. Both have IFS double wishbone coil over front. Both have leaf spring over solid axle rear. Both have similar 4WD engagement systems. Both have downhill assist and hill start. Both have computer controlled limited slip via application of brakes. I have not driven hers yet so I don't know about how differently it performs but most all of it seems the same on paper.

And does anyone know how long the Frontier has had ABLS (Nissan version of ATRAC)?

You're talking about her and not the truck right? :D Because I'll take the Taco's looks over the Nissan any day. But that's my opinion. Not saying the Fronty looks bad, just like the Taco better.

I've just always heard the Frontier and Hardbody Nissan's for that matter were not as reliable as the Yota's.

The Taco has better ground clearance stock, that's pretty much the only advantage...

the fronty is a capable truck

different manufacturers have different features. We obviously favor tacos. many others favor fronty's.
