My girlfriend, Christina, went into the hospital early Tuesday morning with severe chest pains, they ran all the standard tests to make sure it wasn't anything heart related or life threatening which thankfully all came back ok. She's still in a lot of pain with no signs of it getting better yet.

They've done tests for most of her organs which all came back clean as well, and today she's having her throat and stomach checked out to see if its being caused by stomach acid.

I'm praying it's nothing serious or that needs surgery. It just is scary that the doctors haven't been able to figure anything out yet, so please keep her in your prayers.

Hope it's just acid reflux. That can hurt like crazy.

Best wishes for a fast recovery!

That's the unfortunate thing about healthcare, abundance of variables. You can run all the EKG's, chest x rays, cardiac blood draws, etc, and still nothing...

Sounds like they're taking the next step by doing an esophagogastroduendoscopy.

Did the cardiologist or primary order a stress test?

Good luck man, prayers are with the docs and fam. Being stuck in a hospital stinks.

My ex-GF had similar symptoms and it ended up being her gall bladder that had pretty much stopped working. It took forever for them to narrow it down, but that was the cause and they ended up removing it. Hope she gets better soon

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Just an update, she is home as of this afternoon. Turns out she has plurisy (again) which is painful as hell but there isn't much that can be done for it besides resting up and anti-inflamitories. So it'll be a few weeks till she's back to normal but thank goodness it's nothing too serious.

In case anyone doesn't know this condition:

The main symptom of pleurisy is a sharp or stabbing pain in the chest that gets worse with deep breathing, coughing or sneezing. The pain may stay in one place, or it may spread to the shoulder or back. Sometimes it becomes a fairly constant dull ache.
Depending on what's causing the pleurisy, one may have other symptoms:

My thoughts exactly. My dad had gall bladder problems and they thought it was his heart. Whatever it is, I hope she gets well soon!

From what I understand its an inflamation of the tissue surrounding the lungs but underneath the rib cage.

I hate just hate to see her (or anyone for that matter) suffering with nothing that I can really do

keep an eye on her, pleurisy is something that Dr's tend to diagnose young people with when they dont find a simple cause of chest pain. insurance wont pay for many expensive or extensive tests for younger patients.

    a couple questions...

    how old is she?
    is she on birth control?
    is she over weight?
did they do a chest cat scan with IV contrast? or just an xray?
