In the OP's defense, I don't think he is overreacting as I'm sure he loves his wife and knows already how bad she feels. I think he is simply processing it out as most of us would do to our bros or friends. I take a lot of pride and care for my things too, especially the valuable ones, but at the end of the day, they're just things that can be fixed or replaced. The main thing is nobody was physically hurt, although some feelings may have been bruised.

I was use a megiuars product called Scratchx that helps with minor scratches. It can take the paint off but the dimples in the plastic will need to sanded and repainted.

Buddy.....you are focused on the wrong thing.

Be happy the LOYL came to tell you. She surely knows your affinity for the truck.
Be happy the damage is so very minor. Its just a truck.

Love your wife, love the kids, laugh about the "damage", get on with life................

Could be worse, mine backed her $67k sticker Jaguar into the side of the garage. I spent more time calming her down than I did fixing the car.

To quote a famous movie or two, shit happens.

Not sure if someone mentioned this already but one option would be to get bumper caps for $150 from Bumper Shellz

    No shit!

FWIW, I once had a pristine Jaguar XJ6. my young son let his bike bump against is and scrape the paint. Due to mom's reaction, he thought I would kill him.
When they showed it to me, I told him no worries, cars get scrapes. It was even driven far more home a couple years later when a moron ran a red light and totaled it out on me.
I replaced it with a newer one, no big deal.

We all love our vehicles and our toys but only one thing we can't bring back is our family and loved ones.
Beauty of the Tacoma is that parts are always available ! Definitely not the case with our people !

Personally that's not bad OP, I would be more worried about how much damage was done to the house. I just recently earned my pinstripes, on my first offroad adventure. Was headed to Fonts Point in Anza Borrego and got lost somehow. Scratched the right side from headlight to taillight.

Cheers to all the other scratches and dings the truck will get. First one hurts the most... then they all just start showing up. Forever

I hear you. My new truck was my first in 12 years. One week after I got it I took it to a manual car wash, scrubbed it carefully, then dried it with new terry cloth towels. As I was leaving I noticed a spot I apparently didn't dry and grabbed one of the towels from the bed. Darn if it didn't have something abrasive like a pebble or something. I put a small scratch in it and was really bummed. You would like to keep it looking good, but it's impossible.

Hardly any damage, good for wife to be honest and up front.

Manual car wash, as in a truck bay where you do it yourself. With a bucket and sponge and terry cloth towels. When we remodeled our house years ago, the outdoor faucet in the front of the house was removed. I have to replumb the thing before I can wash it at home. Besides, some places aren't conducive to washing your truck in the driveway in the winter. Maybe you guys in TX can't understand this. ;)
