At least it's minor and she fessed up. A client of mine (I am an insurance broker) reported a hit and run to his new truck. Turns out his wife struck the side along a cement bollard whilst getting her nails done and lied to him and us. Did not take long for the adjuster to figure it out.

Yes you do but in your case it’s just packaged a different way. You are a smartass that doesn’t have practical experience in the line of bullshit you are laying down. On the other hand I’ve done these jobs and I’ve got the tools so when I come off like that it’s coming out of practical experience. It’s no different in any craft or profession and I don’t know about you but I’d go for the experience every time. Wouldn’t you know I’m that third guy in the detailing world. it’s ok there’s enough work to keep them all busy and it’s Friday you know what that means.

You make assumptions based upon this message board. I maintain my families 3 vehicles not to mention 2 for my folks. You assume I haven't done any jobs or have any tools. Probably too much if one were honest for what I am doing. I bought this equipment with the intention of starting a side business however my success at my day job has made it obvious to me that there is no need for a side job. So now my detailing remains a hobby and good therapy. I come here to share what I learn and to see what else I can learn along the way. If that doesn't suit you then bugger off.

There really is room in the market for detailers and this includes Mobile detail. If you really like doing it could just be occasional. Nothing wrong with trying to gain all the knowledge you can I got most of mine the old fashioned way as apprentice from a person with over 30 years in the business. His advice stay current of all the new stuff coming to market, sometimes that’s hard to do. He was able to go to The big trade show every year in Vegas, SEMA. You and I can’t do that as it’s not open to the public. The other major takeaway sounds simple but you’d be surprised what happens. It’s not damaging the vehicle you are working on. The other lessons from the old man, learn how to mix your own chemicals and fine tune depending on what you need. Buying from jobbers instead of paying retail. Knowing how to feed and dye leather. Stains, smells, using acid to clean exhaust systems without causing damage. Same for wheels. I think I’ll hang around and maybe answer some questions if I can and I’ll not piss off.

I understand his disappointment. Worked hard to have nice shit even if it is a truck.

There is a difference between using a truck like a man and having it backed into a house. My truck is pristine inside and out but the box liner is trashed. I was not aware I was required to mistreat a truck to qualify as a man!

You don’t seem to understand the sentiment. I worked hard to get the truck. It’s my first Tacoma and I saved up for three years to buy it with cash. I own it outright. I set a goal for myself and I attained that goal within three years. I’m in construction so I also own five Tundras. We beat the shit out of them. But, this is my own personal truck. I wash it every other week and the cabin is spotless. The bed is a different story. I like my own personal belongings pristine. I’m mildly OCD. I’m the type of person that will not sleep in my bed if I know I haven’t showered.

There’s a difference when you, yourself, fuck up your truck. You did it on your own volition. I mentioned it before that if I was the one who caused the damage I would brush it off. It’s just the fact that I wasn’t the first one to fuck it up that makes me sad while taking such good care of it.

If you deem I’m not worthy of being a man then be that as it may and revoke my man card. I won’t lose sleep over it.

She can have the truck and all my belongings. I just want my two boys. Kidding of course. I’m not mad at her. She knew I was hurt. She’s seen the TLC I put into it. I brushed it off during the moment but I was dying inside. She made up for it, though. A man doesn’t kiss and tell but apparently I’m not a man so fuck it.

I get you totally. It's mine so it's one thing if I do it, it's another thing if anyone else does. I'm also pretty fastidious in taking care of my stuff especially my truck. For what they cost I want to keep it nice..plus I remember a theory long ago that even an older vehicle looking good is less likely to be thought of negatively

It’s not that bad. I’ll mess it up some more before I get a bumper. I don’t do the same stuff you guys do with your trucks. I currently have a roof rack to mount my pelican rifle cases, a Diamondback to keep my shit from the elements, and a bed rack so I can eventually put a RTT when my boys are old enough to go camping. I have sliders too but they’re use more as a running board for my pregnant wife. The predator bars sucked balls so had to get rid of them. I have two toddler boys so their car seats take up so much cabin space. Had to find a way to best utilize the space I have. I’m about to have a third son. Don’t know how I’m gonna take them all around with three car seats.

Nice call on the sliders. Different story but I got Westin bars for my single cab when I first got it, mainly b/c my father in law's Alzheimer's was bad and it helped him get in and out of the truck when I had to bring him to appointments.
