Alright, so i've been working on these for a while but now i finally got enough work done to show off what i got:cool:

    they're all 1.75" 11 gauge dom tubing
and the mounting plates are 3/16 plate steel.

to make the mounting plates and cut out a piece of sheet metal, then made another cut half way through at the spot i wanted to bend it, and then pounded on it with a hammer till it was at 90* then i filled in the gap with a few passes of the welder.

i have 4 legs going to the frame, but i'm still undecided about how many supports to put between the tubes. i know 4 will be stronger, but i'm not sure if i really need that many.....but i'll probly end up doing 4 supports in the middle.

for the outer tube, i wanted to do something original. at first i was thinking about doing a kick-out similar to beefed taco and CBI, but with a kick-out in the front and back. but after talking and thinking for a while, i came up with a new design.

there are two main types of sliders, the kind that stick out flat, and then the kind that rotate up to tuck into the truck, but i wanted to make a hybrid of the two. So the ends of my sliders are flat and stick out straight, but in the middle they're tucked up into the truck.

it's kinda hard to explain so you'll just have to look at the pictures:p

so to finish them i just need to notch the outer tube of the drivers side and make 4 or 5 more center supports.....then paint and weld them on!

i'll update this as i finish them and the i'll show install pictures and trail pictures

    Great work there sir.

You should look into getting them powder coated or sprayed with bed-liner for durability. I really like the design. Keep us posted with install pics!

    Nice job

Home built stuff can sometimes be a pain in the ass to get right but brings a great deal of satisfaction knowing you created it.

Get ready to tell your friends NO I am not building you a set for a six pack of beer

hahahaha, you're right on the $ with both of those statements! Everything is a pain in the ass one way or another.

Hey mreimann , these are looking good, I like the clever way you bent the brackets, and the ends of these are definitely one of a kind. Get us some pics for sure when you get them on the truck.

thanks, i'm just ganna spray paint them the same color as my bed basket (dark gray) and they'll also match my front bumper. then touch ups will be plenty easy

yah, the money saved and the satisfaction of doing it myself is a huge pay off.....but i might just put a limit and only make 2 or 3 sets of sliders for friends. i need to make some cash:eek:

    thanks man:D

    trust me....there will be pics!

    passenger side is done

for the drivers side i had it all notched and ready to go, but it ended up being like 2" wider than the other side. so i had to cut it down and i still need to notch it. then i have to make all 3 center supports for it. so it's got a bit of work to be done

but here's a pic of the passenger side clamped on the truck!

i actually ended up using a chop saw, the hole saw and jig would make like 2 cuts per blade....

but the chop saw method actually works just fine, only takes about twice as long tho
