Wow, hard to believe, another dealer that can't do simple work. Lets remember folks, replacing a windshield is really basic common routine work. Its clear that the tech that did the windshield is not competent and as a result they did further damage to your vehicle. The way I see it is this, you gave them ample tries to fix the problem and they proved they do not have the capacity to handle this type of job, all of their handy work is documented on your invoices. I suggest you take it somewhere else and send them the bill. They've wasted your time, they damaged your truck, and they haven't provided you with a properly installed windshield. You'll probable have to sue them so I would contact a lawyer first and follow their advice.

Side note, there was another windshield horror story here where the guy got the adhesive all over the interior of the guys taco. Service is dead, its like trying to get water from a rock.

All you guys that are suggesting to just trade her in are nuts. What your saying is the dealer made money selling you a truck, they made money pretending to fix your windshield, they cost you money repairing the damage they did, and now you want to give them the opportunity to make even more money selling you a new vehicle while making even more money on your trade that they destroyed and will sell to someone else who will bring the truck back for repairs that the dealer originally caused and make even more money.

Sounds like a scam to me.

Sorry for the delay I've been working late yesterday. I went to the dealer last night and they explained to me that the leak this time was due to a drain somewhere along the pillar that was cloggeg from factory adhesive or what not. The technician who worked on the truck is supposed to show this to me today. Upside, it's now tied to Toyota and not the dealer so if I want to claim anything I have the dealer on my side. They will document everything and send it back to Toyota Corporate Offices. They took all the carpet out, disconnected, dryed and inspected all the electrical connectors and ordered a new floor undermat. I must say that the job looked better than I expected. I almost took the truck back the way it was to do a soundproofing job before putting it back together!
I will see what I can get in writing when I take it back tonight. Thanks for the support and advice.

Quite unlikely the dealer did the work. Glass work is usually sub'd out to a specialty vendor.

My FIL was a glass man for a number of years, serviced many a dealership in the area, as well of course as directly to the consumer.

Anyway, I agree the whole mess is unacceptable in terms of work quality.

The good news (looking for a nugget here) is the dealer seems to be accepting responsibility for repairs, volunteering to replace parts that should be replaced, etc. At least OP doesn't seem to have to be fighting for those things.

OP, if they do get the leak resolved, and do properly disassemble, dry and replace appropriate parts, the truck will be fine. Limited amounts of fresh water really aren't too much of an issue.

    Best of luck!

Sounds to me like the dealer is more than willing to do the work and fix the problem. I don't see a problem here.

Demand a new vehicle? Come on guys you are getting ridiculous on these threads

The thing is that the little water that was seeping in was probably sponged by the under carpet. When I drove the truck before the crack it was winter here so liquid water was not a common thing. Yes it's sound phishy but I have yet to see a car problem that was simple.

Hmmm, I'm getting my windshield replaced tomorrow.
Luckily on this one, the original lasted 3 years! :yay:
I thought about using the dealer, but opted for a windshield place recommended by USAA.
Every single Toyota truck I've owned since 1987 (I think 8) have had their windshields replaced at least once.
My other rides 97 Honda & 95 VW still on original windshields.
Good luck OP that sucks about your truck & hope for resolution that helps with issue.
Definitely make your concerns known with the service manager & Toyota Corp!

Everything is great now. I just got back from the ultimate hunting trip and will post a report. I'm wondering where to post it though. Any idea?
