I have been dieing to add another 1st gen as my daily driver.... well while ago I found one that passed my OCD test. Crazy how hard one with no stories is to find now a days. You either pay a ton, or gotta be super quick. I still have my red 03, which is at my vacation home and rarely gets used.

Snagged an 03 Limited DCSB 4x4 Offroad Package and locker. 160k miles. Two owner truck with heavy maintenance records. No stories. Sadly the owner died and the close family friend sold it to me.

I have been slowly fixed anything wrong with the trust. Mainly minor things suck as broken clips, interior pieces etc. I try to do 1 thing a week.

Sadly I can't justify keeping my 3rd Gen anymore. I don't travel for work anymore. Back to the first gen for me.

Nice. Looks really clean. I had a 03 Double cab OR too that had painted flares. Miss that truck. Enjoyed it much better than my 3rd gen. Wouldn’t mind having another but they are a relic in my area. Must have long rusted and rotted away. The few that are left are over priced and or extremely high mileaged and far from pristine.

So you are going to a 1st Gen and getting rid of a Supercharged 3rd Gen?! I will admit I am not fond of the 3rd Gens, but why??????

I was getting tired of all the BS and stories. And dealing with shady people trying to hide stuff. I get it, its a nearly 20 year old truck... something is bound to happen eventually. Impossible to find by me.

I dont travel anymore for work. Can't tell you the last time I even needed to go somewhere unless its to the grocery store. Couldn't justify it anymore.

I think one day, I'll hop back into a 1st gen myself. They're great reliable trucks that can last 300k easily with routine maintenance.

That’s so cool man going back to the 1st gen. I have a 2nd gen but I also love the 1st gen Tacomas. I drove my father in laws 3rd gen and it felt too smooth almost like a car. It was nice but I like my truck to feel like a truck.

Having cheaper or no payments are really nice also. Congrats!

Welcome back, nothing like a first gen. I tell everyone you can build this truck with a metric socket tool box and I’m not joking. I own 4 first gens, first gen tundra, fj cruiser. My fave is the 1st gen tacos imo greatest vehicle ever made.

I got rid of my 3rd gen as well. The v6/auto combo was a nightmare. Picked up a little 2000 regular cab 4x4 will manual everything. Love it

    +1 for 1st gen = best gen!

I'll add this thread to the list I show people when they post about getting rid of their 1st gen to get a 3rd gen.

    They always come back. :D

I had a ‘16, traded it for a ‘17. Got tired of the issues and traded it for a ‘10. I still have the ‘10, but was able to pick up a ‘98 last spring. My youngest son finally got smart and sold his Bronco and bought a ‘02. We both love driving the 1st gens!
