It sounds like your key got worn out to the point where it will not depress the tumblers.
It would not hurt to spray some HHS 2000 lube or graphite powder into the lock.

oh man. this happened to my subaru legacy and I needed a new ignition cylinder to the tune of like $500, which was like 10% of what the cars value was at the time. I'd try 1schoir's suggestion and see if you can get yours working. Do you have a spare key to try?

I'd try the key in the outside door lock.
That will tell you if its a key fitment issue.

Happened to me. Worn key, gummy cylinder. Got a new key cut and sprayed a lot of Houdini lock spray (Lowe's) into the lock, lots of key in/out cycles, and it started working again. No issues since.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll try spraying something in there see if that works if not I'll try a spare key. I don't have a spare key so I need to go to the dealer and get one made. I had somewhere to be today so someone else came and picked me up I'll try this later.

I'd try the key in the door lock first.
No need in spraying stuff in the ignition if the key wont work.
I doubt your issue is due to stuck pins in the ignition.

I'd also try putting the truck in Neutral and trying the key.
The key wont turn if its in any gear other than Park or Neutral.

I went to the dealer and had them make me a new key then took that home and it worked. I had to hold the old key close to it so it would start the engine. I then took it to the dealer to have them program the new key and I got a spare key programmed as well.
I should have done this a long time ago. I often drive out in the middle of nowhere. If this happened there it would have been epic..
Fyi the old key did work in the door handle to unlock but would not work in the ignition.
    Thanks for the help guys.

Glad you got it fixed. Hopefully the dealer didn't bend you over too badly. For future reference, FWIW, you can buy programmable key blanks off Amazon, and key programmers off eBay or the likes and do it yourself for under $100.

Thanks . It was pretty bad. I'm going to try to forget about that now. Hopefully there's never a next time.

All that matters is it's fixed, time and your next paycheck will cushion the impact, besides you're not stranded in BFE.
