Decided to undercoat with RP-342 black this year rather than fluid film. I really hope this lasts multiple years. Not a fan of this job. IMG_2789.jpg

Good plastic wrap though! I have my first woolwax application scheduled Dec 1, $350 to save myself a little headache
I skipped out on my first winter so hoping I didn't make a big mistake

I wish I could find a place locally to do this. I would absolutely pay $350 to have this done. The only options that I have been able to find close to me are basically rhino lined and I don’t want to mess with that crap.

I don’t even think Stevie Wonder would need all that covering

I would never ever do this on my driveway haha.

Did you cover the exhaust as well?

Windy day. I’d rather cover the paint than spend hours cleaning cosmoline off afterwards.

No, but wiped the exhaust down with mineral spirits after.

I pay $120 ca$h for the awesome Krown Rustproofing experience which includes the whole truck, not just the frame. In and out in 20 minutes and I'm good until next year!

When I did my jeep wrangler I just pulled in the side yard on a nice weather day aluminum foiled the exhaust (tip from the professional who did much Tacoma) and sprayed away. No over spray anywhere. Just drips days later from the cavity wax in the summer sun. I did wear a tyvek suit and lab joggles though.

Nice work on the prep. I'm sure you ended up with better results doing it yourself vs paying someone else at the local pay n spray.

You have a lot of faith in those jack stands! Is it 100% necessary to remove all the tires like that? I'd be a little freaked out wiggling under there to spray.

I see no jack stands, clearly a hovercraft conversion done early in the 21st century.

There’s that word again, “heavy”. Why are things so heavy in the future?

I get it, just saying it’s a bit overkill. Also doesn’t look very windy according to the photo. Better to be safe than sorry I suppose

Wow. I wouldn't go to that trouble if I owned and daily drove a Shelby Cobra. More power to ya but life goes on around you man.

IMO no. Its not hard to get around in the wheel well to get everything sprayed.

OP, Hope you did 2 coats and let it sit to dry after the first as 1 coat is not enough. A little touch up each year and you are golden.

I do mine each fall and I have never done this and my undercarriage looks new and I live in the rust belt. Just jack up one end at a time slid under spray away and repeat. I would be done and drunk 2 days before you finish putting the plastic on.

Yeah, I aint doing this. I just wash the bottom of the truck and hit any rusty looking spots with rust reformer and call it good. Other than my receiver in the rear, I have no real issues after almost 7 years in the rust belt.

    More power to you OP.
