    Sub'd. Really nice build man. I'm looking forward to seeing how you utilize the iPad. Keep us updated!

    I've been using my ipad for GPS since I got it. I run an app called topo maps (can't remember price) along with a blue tooth gps adapter (gns 1000). This lets me download topo maps of the area I'm in and still be able to see where I am without cell service. Has worked perfectly so far. The main thing for the kit is now this set up looks like it belongs in my truck I don't have to run a ram mount and have cables everywhere. Everything else is a bigger plus since you have ios in dash. Shane's set up actually integrated my steering controls better then I already had th and the sony app is a 4 star because it could be better but it's still great since you can literally access everything in the radio from the ipad. Example picture of the app below.

    Also here's a picture of the app too.

    Hmmm that looks like a great alternative to buying an aftermarket head unit.

    There's a bunch of options to connect it, for me there is actually a headunit sunken behind the ipad which wasn't expensive to set up at all. Still cheaper then a double din unit.

    Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I've already started a list of Apps on my build page that I'll get when I install this system.

    I was also looking at 'TOPO Maps'. It looks like that app has some of the highest quality Topo maps available for iOS. It appears that the maps were developed from the same survey used to create the military maps that I'm used to. On his website, the "older" paper maps look identical to standard military maps, minus the military grid reference system (MGRS) overlay. I'm hoping that the modern rendering of these maps will allow me to add the MGRS.

    The iOS platform is the reason I'm making the switch to the iPad from my double din unit (AVIC-Z140BH) - the options for improvement / development and increased functionality are endless. I also appreciate the ability to easily upgrade the hardware as better products become available. Instead of having to buy an entirely new head unit + install to increase functionality, I can just replace the GPS receiver, or iPad, or radio - which ever is needed, for a fraction of the cost.

    Quick question: how much hard drive space does the TOPO maps take up?

    I haven't bought the iPad yet, and I'm trying to decide how big of a hard drive I need. I've already filled up my 16GB iPhone, so I know I'll need more than that. But there are 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB options available. I don't necessarily want to buy the most storage available and forget about it, as I foresee wanting to upgrade more than just the hard drive space every so often.

    Thanks!

    I actually stick to TOPO maps because it doesnt fill up my 64g iPad mini quickly, when I was using the other topo app it filled it up real quick. It all matters how much you want stuff zoomed in. I generally run it a few away from all the way zoomed in so the files are smaller but it still doesn't use up all the space of the topomap app. I would definitely go with the 128 if I could re do it. I like having music saved on my ipad also.

    More painting on the frame done. Hopefully finish in the next week or 2 then onto sliders. I am going to attempt a plastidip project on my truck after that to cover up my moab kiss.

    Ordered my heimed upper arms and will be picking them up from DMZ fab saturday, install will be next weekend since I have 2 tests this week.

    Looking great Bry! are you solid mounting your lowers and going to just upper control arm alignment adjustment? I'm pretty sure i'm going that route...my cams keep moving and i've had enough trips to the alignment shop.

    havent posted up much, have monday off and plan on finishing up repainting my framer and sliders. Trying to decide if I should repowdercoat my bumpers or just keep repainting them myself. Soon as the sliders/frame are done I am going to pull the bedrack out of the garage and start putting a few things onto it;

    couple bars, rotorpax water tanks and storage tank, extra few tank, redo the dustlight set up, add more lighting so I can see whats in the bed at night under the RTT.

    Newer version of Shane kit for the 05-11 trucks. Still one of my favorite investments.

    Started the prep for 35s today. Cut the flares and marked the fenders. Waiting on a tool from McMaster to finish. 5ada3fc683059975154092ce690a45b8_522bbfec2c734655850d4dd2368d23ff8e9bfba1.jpg787fd4d7b4825e8c8748395a95e2451e_ff99942996c06a9daf214f2c93c29cc11ea17c1b.jpg
