On your spindle gussets, did you mig those? If so what was your technique to weld? Just a bunch of tacks and connect together? It looks like you didn't preheat it.

for what its worth i didnt pre heat my spindles or anything and i just welded them on. no problems in a few years.

to do it right you should pre heat them though as welding onto cast makes it brittle.

truck looks great man! lets see some action shots :)
question, why didnt you raise up your bumper a bit? looks good, just curious.

Thanks and when I was building it for some reason I left it down a little and it looks dumb now haha that's why it's my temporary bumper, and the spindle I just mig welded an yes I used a series of tacs so tht I dident overheat the spindle. It seems very solid! I will post pismo pics today!

Thanks man. My buddy wants me to weld up his spindles so I was just checking to see what you guys were doing. Clean truck. Looks stupid mean. Keep that same angle on the bumper when you raise it up and the black plate is sweet. I need to redo my bumper plate. It looks like a 5yr old cut it.

Well I was planning on gusseting the mounts but I dident have time before my last pismo trip and well it broke right where we knew it was weak haha but I rebuilt it with much thicker steel (1/4 inch) and I gusseted it;) should be good now! I also snapped my shock shaft in half in the process so I ha to rebuild my whole lower end but luckily my boy Andy at poly performance hooked it up! Next day shipping and all parts under $60!
My new shock tool and parts!

Well rebuilt my DIY shock mounts, instead of 1/8 inch thick steel, I used 1/4 inch! And I did not wait to gusset it! Can't wait to take her out, I'm gunna cut my overload leafs as well to get a better ride quality what do you think?

i would guesset it more man.
this is how i would do it.

add some 1/4 off the sides and gusset the cuts on the square tubing. will hold up a lot better. and will possibly save you 60 dollars in the future.

oh and add another strip off the back the solid piece. expetially by the V in the tubing.

this is just my 2 cents

What an awesome build. Kudos to you for getting out in the garage and making it happen. I may be alone on this but I think lt first gens look great with the factory fenders and not glass. Either way you go it will look good that just my preference. Keep the pics coming
