Really if these are having issues in 10 years, they'll still be worth a mint on trade in and no fucks will be given.

I don't know anything about this motor being Lexus or not , what facts I do know is I've been buying new Toyotas since 1985 and Toyota pick up trucks and 4Runners have had very poor luck with the V6 . I had 5 and all were recalled , not a good record . The 4 cyl never . just look at the past recalls and TSB's and you will see their V-6 's have had issues . Will this new v6 be the same ? who knows will it be bulletproof ? who knows . But it takes years to look back and see how it actually turns out.
Meanwhile I suggest you all by the v6 and get the bugs worked out for me later . it bothers me not what u buy and why.

Again, look at old taco prices. They all have excellent resell value. The v6 and 4x4 versions have higher resell than their 4 cylinder and 2wd counterparts. If they do prove that they are going to have issues, you will easily get your money back out of them on trade in... People just dgaf and buy based on the tacoma name. Hell, go look at the tacos with frame rust issues that are really well known.. Still worth a ton and selling for high.

Well I suggest you read about it rather than making assumptions.
What bugs are in the engines now from the rumor mill ???
Suggest you read this post of the Lexus tech for 15 years.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-here.460957/#post-13679835
Its a Lexus engine now which are some of the best in the world.
So now I guess Lexus is a pos ?

This is a four cylinder 2.7 thread, you can go brag about your V6 all you want there's 1 million threads for that , why do you feel the need to come here and try to convince us. Again buy what you want.

You have no clue what the word assumption means. I listed facts from my past experience of being a Toyota owner and purchaser for over 30 years. There's no assumption , those are my actual results. If you think your Toyota Tacoma has A Lexus engine in it and it's somehow better than all the rest of the Toyota V-6's in the past that's great for you but that's an assumption ! This motor is new for 2016 and time will tell if it's good , all your BS assumptions will not change the reputation that this new V6 engine gets and right now all I keep reading it it's very underpowered and very noisy. I'm finished with this worthless conversation because you're a V-6 guy in a thread for a 2.7 which shows you have no clue

Are you rolling with the mom mini van wheels and tires the truck came with? Any other tire or wheel combo and you aren't racing up any hill with the 2.7L.

People want both the V6 and the 2.7L 4 Cylinder.

IF you buy the 2.7L you aren't going to strike it rich on resale but there is definitely a demand for them.

I had a 94 Toyota Access Cab M/T sitting in front of my house for years that I would use for dump runs and trips to get bark or gravel.

I also had a tack board in the garage with peoples names and phone numbers that they left for me so I could call them when I was ready to sell. When I was ready to sell, I call the first guy who had given me his number several years back. Two days later he drove it away and handed me a fist full of cash.

You can't go wrong with either engine.

    I like them both.

    I've owned both the 3rd Gen 4 Cylinder and the 3.5 6.

They are both great in my opinion. Just a matter of what your needs are and how much you want to spend.

My only gripe about the 4 cylinder is it seems under powered if you want to get a nice set of aftermarket wheels and 265/70 17's.

I'm still driving it as toyota engineers intended it to be driven in this configuration, yes.

I'd like to see a minivan with 245/75 16's, if you have any examples. I'm thinking that would look pretty BA.

It's ugly as designed by Toyota with the steel wheels and the less than adequate tires.

I respect the fact that you drive it how it came from the factory though.
