Nice truck! Limited was my 2nd choice but they didn't offer it in an access cab.

Did you buy the Sport Manual you had all lined up a few weeks ago?

I just finished a lease on a 17 OR, had a BDS leveling kit and aftermarket wheels, the trick is to trade it before the lease is up as if you own the truck then there isn’t an inspection. The dealership even swapped my wheels out for the factory wheels, now I have a 20 Limited and will do the same mods, don’t be scared of a lease as it’s nothing but a 3 year loan with cheaper payments.

Wise choice going with a manual. The 4.30 gears make it almost night and day difference compared to automatic gears.

First congratulations on your new truck. Love the color and trim, mine is a SSM 2x4 17 Limited. Been a great truck and plan to keep it till year 2 or 3 of the next gen at least.

Ideas to make your wallet weep come from everywhere on TW. I have done several mods to my truck and approach them with the mindset that I do not do any mod that I can not return to stock, or accept the cost as gone forever. If I am removing a mods I want to to be able to be used again.

    Mods I have done:
AMP Power Steps - Love them - drilled 2 holes and bolt on and tapped signal wires an hour to remove at most Might get new if I get new truck
Undercover Flex cover - Great hard cover, easily removable, secure (Already had auto lock on tailgate from Southeast Toyota)
Bed mat - easy taken to new truck
Sill plate covers & decals - Stays with truck
    Glove box lettering - stays
    Tailgate lettering - stays
Grill - Could stay - still have original insert
Total Tails v1 s1 - Can remove in 5-10 minutes
Puddle lights - Can remove in less than an hour
Mat black emblem overlays - stays
    Footwell lights - stays
Left switch panel - easily removed might stay
Horn upgrade - easily removed might stay

And the list goes on, but you get the picture.

Enjoy and happy modding, or not as you choose.

Boy you are mistaken. Those who choose manuals want them, not need them. Some of us like to drive our trucks and not be driven by them.

I think his post was a joke as he posted a few weeks back that he finally found a Sport MT in the configuration he wanted and was heading out to sign the papers, l remember congratulating him on his choice.

Its 2020, around here i agree lots of traffic, plus i always preferred an auto for towing. These are mid size trucks not a sports car. The way the auto works in my taco plus the fuel economy it gets, it be real hard to convince me a manual is better.

    Welcome to TW.
    I have had three new Tacomas: 2001, 2005, 2010.
All three were leases. All three were 4WD OFF ROAD TRDs.
The 2010 was converted from a lease to a purchase after three years... It was just too great to take a chance on a new one not being as good! I also wasn't pouring the miles on it as I had the first two (100,000 + in 4 years). The 2010 is now almost 11 years old and is just over 125,000 miles.
I hope you get all the pleasure and use you want from your truck!

One very easy, cheap mod to consider doing BEFORE driving into a stream or deep puddle:
    Rear Differential Breather Mod.

Not a fan of stick shifts in mid size p/u.
to be clear I don’t have a stick shift sport and mine is 2wd...haven’t driven one in 15 years had a ‘95 5 speed 4 banger Nissan hardbody for 10 years towed a 16’ aluminum flat boat and hauled cr250 one or the other nearly every weekend. Got tired of shifting a pick up with under load. Winding out a truck was not my idea of an enjoyable driving experience. Furthermore the notion that driving a stick makes one superhuman is ridiculous. Can be learn in few hours. If I had the itch for a manual I sure as shit wouldn’t look to scratch it with a mid size truck.

No bueno, man. With the resale value of our trucks, never lease a Tacoma. You can’t mod it, limited to miles driven a year, and you’re actually paying more upfront. Doesn’t sound like a good move.

I bought my truck back in 2010 for $26k drive out. I could easily sell it for $22k right now given the insane used car prices going on, and mine isn’t even a 4x4 or anything. Just a DCLB prerunner.

but if you’re happy with it, good for you

Here’s a question I have. I want to lift the truck with Old Man Emu Heavy duty kit, and add 17 inch 4Runner TRD Pro wheels, with 285/70/17. Will that set up cause any rubbing or require trimming? Would going with a 275/70/17 be a better idea?

Lifting a Leased truck doesn't sound like a good idea.
