Yeah I think the normal amount of play is maybe a half inch all around? It will always move around some due to the rubber bushing having play. But 2" sounds severe, and by the photo you posted the rubber bushing is basically non-existent now lol.

I'm gonna have to video it if I can, but yeah at 60-70 there is a bad vibration...I know the tires have something to do with it but this could be the majority i think.

Were you able to find your turn signal socket? It may be less expensive just to buy an aftermarket light assembly than buying the socket alone from Toyota. Or just take a trip to your local pick a part and grab a socket from another Toyota. Usually the housings break before the sockets do.

Do you usually get Shaking in the steering wheel with a carrier bearing though? thats where alot of vibration is coming from.

Mine caused my steering wheel to shake pretty bad between 55 - 70mph. It's gone now after I replaced the carrier bearing.

Based on your photos, even if you have something else causing your steering wheel shake, that CB needs to be replaced asap before it results in damage to your driveshaft. I'm betting it will help with your vibes however.

Oh yeah no doubt it needs to be replaced, just reading on here and some people say that it will not cause a steering wheel vibration, others says it has. It's pretty bad between around 65mph

Alright so the carrier bearing def helped the vibration...I'm sure the rest of the vibration is coming from the rear tires. Regardless I'm glad I changed the carrier now.

Pulling into the parking lot this morning you can see how bad they are.

Not sure how much re-balancing will help they have such good tread I don't wanna discard them.

Drove into work and these rear cupped tires are on my nerves.

The rear left hops at 55mph and the right rear hops between 60-65. Gets a pretty bad shake going on.

Not sure what to do...ask them to re-balnce try to run them and smooth them out....get new tires.

Just get new tires. I get that there is 'good' tread, but not worth it. May check the date on the rubber too, mine have tread like yours but are from 2012, so I'm going to swap them too

I forget, how is your suspension? Old shocks/springs that are shot will cause the tires to hop at speed

Like how you sometimes see a car on the highway with a tire bouncing up/down like crazy, usually means they've got a blown shock

The shocks and springs seem find...but I have been looking at doing bilsteins front and rear anyways.

Gonna let them try to re-balance one more time. They are only 1 year old..and the balance just made them worse...which confuses me

So I disconnected the shocks and they immediately shot up towards the bed and hit it.
, but I could compress them back down with one arm. Also pressing on the rear bumper I can bounce the back of the truck easy, while my mother in laws 02 pre runner is a lot stiffer.

No fluid leaks though.. still could be blown shocks?

The bounce happens at 40mph too...but only sometimes

Shocks can shot even if there's no sign of fluid leaking, I would prioritize new ones soon if it's safe to say those have quite a bit of mileage on them. Or worse yet if they're original but it would be hard to know that.

Since you just got those tires balanced and it feels worse, I'd go back to the shop and let them know. They might be able to rebalance them better or even help pinpoint the issue.

It's hard to say without being able to see the truck. It sounds like you've gone through quite a bit already, unfortunately with a 20+ year old vehicle there are a lot of things to consider when trying to chase down vibes.

Have you gotten it aligned yet? A good alignment shop should definitely be able to help diagnose tire wear issues

Also it sounds bad but I don't know if I trust taking it back to the same shop. They have the stick on wheel weights DOUBLE STACKED.

yellow Bilsteins are what mine came with from factory, I think depending on what trim those are the stock ones. But they could have also been replaced with another set at some point.

Absolutely. My truck would randomly start shaking anywhere above 40 mph. Like you I did tire balancing, rotations, center bearing but nothing cured it until I replaced the rear shocks. My shocks looked perfectly fine but were so bad that they compressed under their own weight when I stood them on end. I replaced them with a cheap-o pair of Monroe’s and it’s made a world of difference. I suspect that the combination of worn shocks and cupped tires, no matter how well balanced they are is a major source of your problem because with bad shocks there is nothing to dampen the springs.
