I’ve also got a Trailhunter and am considering doing a topper, I’m looking forward to see how yours looks. Which one are you going with?

RSI Smartcap EVOa Adventure is sitting on my local RSI dealer's shelf until I get Toyota's molle panels already on order.

Said molle panels mount under the bedrails. Because I like it that way. Retarded that molle panels others produce mount on the rails, reducing and getting in the way... oh, say of toppers and other stuff that actually should be mounted on rails (looking at you, Caliraised) /rant over

Oh and Toyota's panels are not compatible with spray in bedliners. FYI.

Finally figured out this strange icon on the digital rearview mirror and its associated function:

With this setting ON, if the digital rear view mirror thinks something say, a garage door or a towel, is blocking its way it automagically switches to optical mode. Call it "Auto optical" if you will.

This setting is not described in the current version of the manual.

The Smartcap looks great. My brother has one on his Gladiator and loves it. That’s a bummer about the panels and spray in bed liner, mine came with that.

My number one concern with the RSI or any topper really is being unable to use the digital rear view without doing a bunch of work to remount the camera. If there is an easier solution, I’d be more likely to get the top.

Hey bud!! I got my TH today! I’m afraid the transmission will blow up .. but setting that fear aside .. did you have to trim to fit the 35s? Did it kill torque? Any transmission heating issues?

Has anyone figured out a bed cover solution that saves the bull bar? Or decking that doesn’t interfere with the air compressor?

Congrats! I removed the safety bracket and mudflaps. Nothing rubbing driving around the street. Gonna do a compression test on stands soon.

Yeah that ARB thing is impressively built useless thing. It sticks out every which way till Sunday. I wouldn't waste brain cycles thinking solutions to avoid ditching it for something you will actually use. There are companies that make full racks that work with covers. Mine is coming off as soon as I get ready to put a topper on it.

@TSnider86,a youtuber, got one and is doing extensive mods. Don't know if he is doing decking.

Awesome! Are you worried about the tranny overheating? The internet is really making me worried. I just want to be excited about the truck. Someone stole my third gen and I got enough insurance money to get this, so I said fuck it.

Another option is to keep it for when you trade in/sell for the next year's model.

That is up to him to disclose. You will have to do the search function.

Nice thread going here. Just got word my trailhunter arrived and will go check it out this coming week. Make sure paint gaps etc looks good. The pics show it has the upgraded fasteners for the snorkel cap. I have a shit load of mods in my garage ready to install.

what are the upgraded fasteners? Mine feels pretty tight with a rubber gasket.

only thing that felt loose was one of those awkward rear bumper plastic inserts .. not sure how to tighten it

I saw a white 4th gen with Maine license plates on the road today driving back from Las Vegas to AZ. The turbo and the 8 speed had no issue climbing the mountain passes and made my 3rd gen look like it was struggling. (It was). A little jelly of those 4th gens at this point. :jellydance:

It is disappointing. My 2022 PRO had 9” and with 265/75/16s it had 9.5”… were you able to confirm it’s just because it has the Tundra diff? I assume that means it’s higher clearance otherwise from the third gen.

The updated fastener is that little round tab you see in that pic. The early release didn’t have them and some people had issues of the cap falling off during washing or even driving. Someone had a good pic of it on different forum. I’ll look for it

Might have been the issue for the OC hold for trailhunters
