So let me get this straight, I had a 2022 Tacoma TRD PRO with 9.4” of clearance at the diff, out of the box. I put 265/75/16s (32s) on it and got that figure up to near 10”…

Then I buy a trillion dollar Trail Hunter which is supposed to be a halo model, with 33” tires out of the box, and it’s got 9” of ground clearance? So I have to put 35” tires on it to get the same clearance I had before with 32s? Got it Toyota.. that’s super disappointing..

Does it at least have better running clearance???? My old 3G was stolen so I can’t compare.

No wonder Toyota doesn’t include the clearance specs anywhere like they did on the 3G.

Edit: I don’t recall what my actual 3G measurements were .. going off official posted numbers.

Probably the most planted feeling truck I’ve driven .. similar to a full size.

OK, so the 3G has 9.4” official clearance but in real life it was 8.5”? That kind of makes sense because I don’t think mine was actually 9.4” as claimed .. maybe that was wirh tires inflated to 80psi

Tell me about it. My hopes and dreams of being able to walk under the rear diff without ducking my head has been smashed to smithereens.

Because it now has grown into the size of a 1/2 Ton. Crazy how big Toyota’s “little” trucks have become.

I have a Four Wheel pop-up camper in the bed of my 2005 that is about 700lbs dry, probably close to 1K with everything on/in it. But, my truck is highly modified front to back, suspension, lift, S/C’d engine putting out over 400HP.

I have a TH with the 6’ foot bed on order but I am not sure if I will continue with it. I need to see a report of someone putting one of these slide-in campers on it and how the truck actually does, if they blow way past GVWR, etc.

I wasn't expecting real 35 inches, but the KO3 LT 285/70/18 is even shorter than 34.8. Another example of Toyota's quality falling:

40 psi. Maybe haft ta inflate it to 80 to get the 34.8. C'mon Toyota!

Not sure what to tell you since I have no plans on a slide in camper. The TH is supposed to be out of the box with all that other stuff. That is why the payload is lower. I am going to pull off that ARB fake rack thingy and give you a number on that. Good luck.

The big question is how long will the frame remain solid in the rust belt... or anywhere else.

I waited six years in the salt belt for my frame on my 3G to rot out under me as promised by the gurus here at TW. Since I can't do that anymore considering I no longer have the truck, I can't celebrate the Rotting Of The Frames with those exquisitely beautiful, high IQ gurus. Me thinks they have a convention coming up soon? Maybe I can drop in.

Right, I would be punting the bed bar thing as well for obvious reasons. I would just keep my truck running for another 50-100k miles but the frame rust means it has a finite life. On paper the TH looks to be the part, but you are seeing that load number with a 5’ foot bed. I’m sure I will get more info as more people get the truck…

Trailhunter doesn't come with 285/70/18s which are spec'd at 33.7 (the 285/75/18s are 34.8). Did you mean to blame BFG?
