The way that 3rd leaf looks from top. Sure looks like an add-a-leaf, or it's broke/cracked. Not sitting right...Overload looks normal.

Really appreciate the breakdown! A lot of great information here. Thank you!

As long as I can get in and out without a tow truck!

If you want to do the YouTube video stuff you linked, a good set of Mud Terrain tires would be my first addition. Your video showed a great many different types of vehicles, you should be good with the Tacoma for that stuff. Join an organized club, not an ad hock group of Yahoos and get some knowledgeable, guided experience. Expect to lose those steps one way or another. There are people talking about the springs being bent, maybe so, get down and take a good look in person. I have wrapped several sets of springs rock crawling and regard springs as consumables, just like tires. Generally spring wrap resembles an "S", not a "W". No telling how the previous owner treated the truck.

You’re fine . If it rides fine then it’s good to go.

    Your winch will handle that.

I am coming from a subcompact hatchback, so I think it rides fine? lmao.. It sure handles road bumps and railroad tracks a lot better! Only issue I really notice is, and I'm new and learning the truck, is bump steer and either wheel weight issue or something, at 45 or 50+ the steering wheel will wiggle back and forth if I go hands free.

Another vote for the Bilstein 6112/5160 if you decide to replace the blocks and spacer. Also, JBA high castor uca's and icon RXT leafs if you decide to go that route.

Naw man, I know you. I don't get mad over a good exchange of opinions. :hattip:

I just never saw that level of deformation on an empty load on a Tacoma. (I did see it on my own trailer right before it dropped its axle in the middle of a big road trip last November, but that's something completely different and unrelated.) I do agree that this likely is a case of overtightened bolts around that dang spacer block. I just have weird speculations about how that affects the performance of the metal. :cookiemonster:

I have been running a slight w leaf for 5 months and notice no difference on an empty bed. Stock are pretty much flat anyway. I bought some takeoff leaf packs from a guy who replaced his packs and no more w.
Your vibration could be simply worn tire tread if old tires and/or time for an alignment.
Stock front and rear shocks not too old. You only want a 1/2" top hat spacer, otherwise a basic Bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable shock is the better route to get an inch lift in front if you're going to be offroading.

While they do not directly address your concern or lack therof, one may infer a W shape is not desireable. It was why I caveated my post with "FWIW"

It's the same shape you would see on overloaded leafpack. Less deflection from the designed shape begets longer fatigue life.

There are a few other good articles on that site...

Seems like a tire balance issue . Steering wheel vibes at that speed points to a front tire

I find it odd that the PO put in a warn winch and only a block and spacer lift. Why pay the premium on the winch and cheap out on the suspension?

I get that, but I'd imagine a badlands winch with a factor 55 fairlead/hook if that were the case. Now I'm wondering if they bought someones warn fairlead/hook take offs for cheap.
