Great toyota pickup story sounds like mine but I started with mr2s then went to a 2007 then to a 2013 tacoma

 

towed with my tundra,truck handled it great,trailer was too short for Homie's truck started swaying a lot,couldn't get weight distributed right.

I towed DBronzo's Tacoma with mine a few miles, equally as heavy. It was scary.

 

I'm contemplating doing two big projects: a front bumper, most likely sticking with Pelfrey built (unless you can recommend a different make and someone who can powder coat locally), love their Customer Service. Regardless, the other major project I'm contemplating is doing a cap, with slide out drawers and put carpet on top of the compartments so its kinda like mini camper?

Is yours just the cap and bed or have you done any kind of bed "build up" I guess? And where did you go for yours? I'd like to color match it to the truck, but know nothing of where to go, cost range, options and not sure I want to go trough Banins to do the order.

Then there's all the other fun stuff you did to your truck from what I can see suspension wise. But that I'll save for a later date

 

do those bushwhacker fender flares bolt on pretty securely? I am considering getting some to run on my truck. I will be cutting them almost immediately. I want to trim about 2" off of my fenders

First: don't even think about Banin's - way overpriced.

Pelfrey is a great selection for a bumper but remember if you go with steel you'll need to upgrade your front coils to handle the added weight. For a cap the best bet is Craigslist. Always deals to be had & I can set you up with a local shop to color match one if you cant get one in your color

Yes but the holes do not line up 100% with the stock clip holes - you'll need to drill.

Needed to thin down where the sticks joined to be able to use the shift boot.



Can't find my socket swivel adapter. have to go get one for one of the bolts on the FJ case.

 

Damn those welds look shitty

 

They're holding just fine.

 

Took the shift knob blanks to the same machine shop that make the oil seal housing. They'll mill 1/8" off the diameter and flatten the tops. There's another shop in the same complex that can lazer etch the correct shit on them.
Got the t-case ready to drop too. One last bolt.
I hope to get everything back together and get this pig roadworthy this weekend.
