    I created that thread smarty...

Unfortunately, that particular thread is full of prices with serious lack of details. Yes, there are valid posts within...but you will find yourself flipping through 10+ pages to gain any decent info. Someone merely posting, "I paid $XXXXX for a TRD OR"... means nothing to me. It is only relevant if they list all the options, as it seems to sway the price quite a bit.

Overall, that thread can be helpful. I feel that this new thread has it's place with some detail - including a trade in. Besides, not everyone has the time to search through multiple pages.

Regardless what you do, you need to get rid of that 4.5% loan. I think in this case it even makes financial sense to get the 2016. If you're financing through the dealer you can negotiate your loan rate as well - nothing stops them from knowing that you qualify for a 1% loan but offering you a 3% loan and tell you you're getting a great rate.

So I am not the only one who dumped a 15 for a 16...... My difference is $6000 +/- $500 more than I got for the 15. Same exact truck except I m getting the $3000 Premium and tech with JBL I did not have on my 15

Not a bad deal at all, I think they could do better on the price of there vehicle (I think invoice is around 34?) but they are giving you great money for your 2015 which offsets that.

Funny thing is that even though it is a 16 model, it's really a 15!

Edit: BTW, I got 1.79% thu the dealer financing.

For what it is worth, since I recently did this in the KC metro also:

I also did other dealers in Kansas, just remember that the sales tax is higher in the metro, and if you buy on the Missouri side you'll end up paying the difference when you go to register, for no real savings or vice versa.

I found that many dealers weren't willing to negotiate to much, maybe this has changed since August when I was talking to them... or maybe you just have a better smile.

I ended up buying from Emporia, which ended up saving me ~$400 in sales tax alone, but then again I was buying outright so your outcome might vary - but it is still something to consider.

In requesting financing, I just stated that I've been hearing of people getting 2% on their loans, and while they didn't outright agree to it, they indicated that it isn't uncommon to get that rate and that they could probably accomidate it but would need to run my credit. I was putting down $10,000 on it, and you do tend to get better rates when placing a significant down payment. Took them about 20 mins and they agreed to that rate. Assuming your credit isn't terrible, I don't see why you couldn't get a similar rate as many others have also pointed out.

I bought a TRD OF Access Cab without premium tech and got it for $33,500 (missing TTL). Seems like you got a pretty good price, they must be more willing to deal because it was pulling teeth to get them to drop below MSRP. Then again they are making the money back on your trade too which probably gave them more wiggle room.

not just bad but terrible. $29,500 on trade makes it worth it because of the tax credit. Not sure what the rate is in KC but in Tx the credit would be $1,844. O f course you will end up paying taxes on $1219 twice and probably 2 inspection and registration fees in a short time period.

It isn't just the percentage, it's also the term of the loan. 72 months.

No offense to the OP, but those loan rates are generally results of telling the salesman that all you can afford is $350 a month auto payment. Then them (sales) creating a 4-square diagram and discussing: "Let's see how we can make this work for you."

If you need to finance, go to a credit union to figure out what kind of loan you can afford and what would make the most sense for you. You don't have to finance with the credit union, but the process will make you more informed when you discuss financing with the dealer.

Exactly...I would suggest anyone who is financing get pre approved checks from a variety of CUs and banks. I got pre approval from Light stream but PenFed sent the actual check today made out to me and the dealer for $28500

. My terms are 30 months at 1.5%. I stopped by the dealership today to see if Toyota could meet that and they could not. The truck is expected this week .

I will take the check in and add $6000 or so and buy the truck. I just could not pass up 1.5% (That is an interest payment of $32 out of a $937 payment. And it decreases every month). The rest of the money I intended to use is invested and so far doing better than 1.5%

I did not want a long term loan as I don't like payments of any kind, but this rate is a no brainer. Now All I need is the truck so I can report all the cost details

Honda gave us a 2.4% interest rate on a used Honda was bought last year. They will drop rates if you bring in other credit rates

4% is terrible considering it's at least double what people with good credit are paying nowadays. I was going to finance my new Rubicon through my credit union at 1.99% until the dealer offered me 1.69% for 60 months.
