    I've searched and keep finding conflicting results. I have a 2002 TRD OR. I don't have a key fob, nor was I given one when I purchased the truck used. Can I just order one online and program it? Or did my truck never come with one? Some people say if you have the "VIP" sticker on the window that the truck had keyless entry. I have that sticker. I'm tired of using my key to open my door. First world problems

    I believe it's the RS3200. Look under the dash, inside the left kick panel and there should be a box with the RS3200 label on it. That's the "VIP" system. There are other model numbers, but not sure those apply to 1st gen tacomas or not.

    If you have that, then look up teh instructions on how to get it programmed. From the dealer, the fobs are close to $100, you can get them cheaper, tho.

    i found a black box inside the kick panel. bigger than the 4wd ecu, but it was covered in stick-on foam covering the label and part number. it was also zip tied in. I have the little black rectangular toyota "alarm" thing in the center console also. Im going to order a fob and see what happens

    I have an 04. This is the fob that worked for mine. 20200224_190435.jpg
    I never looked for the RS3200 on mine... I figured its SR5 & TRD and it has power locks so it probably has keyless entry ability. First I got a different egg shaped fob at a parts yard, it was the wrong one. Then I ordered the one pictured on ebay (used) for fairly cheap. I just got lucky it worked. Then, one fine day... I met a cute highlander girl at the liquor store and I gave her the ovary shaped highlander/sienna fob. I gave her my number and she called me to come over and program it for her. Hers worked too! The rest is history, were now common law husband & wife. Damn she drinks alot though.

    I've bought a couple OEM replacent fobs and never had a problem.
    The only differences I've seen with the fobs though are some have a red led indicator light and some don't. My 04s fob has the light.

    Update for anyone interested;
    I received the OEM one that @SellyKlater Linked above. That one worked! I learned my lesson. don’t buy the cheap shitty ones on Amazon, they don’t work. The new one paired to my truck first try.
    A side note: i think you could test to see if your truck has the capability by going through the motions of pairing a new fob. The trucks security system should make an audible “beep” just as you hear when you lock or unlock it with the fob. if your truck beeps when you go through the instructions prior to actually pairing the fob, i would assume that your truck has the system. just a thought. Thanks everyone for your help and i’m going to enjoy not having to use my key anymore!

    How much of a range do you get with your new remotes? The ones I have now will only work within 6 feet of the truck. This is even with replacing the batteries.
