I think a gtp may be my next venture or mandarin rat snakes. I would love false water cobras but I'm worried since my girlfriend is highly allergic to bee stings. Shouldn't be bad being rear fanged but still don't want to test it

I was big into reptiles in college while getting my bio degree. Had an awesome red tailed boa for a long time. A really neat JCP as well. Had a mangrove snake and even an eyelash viper for years. Got the viper as a 6" baby - had to cut a ham off a pinkie mouse to feed it with hemostats. Looking back, it was pretty risky to keep a snake like that around. But the things you do as a dumb college kid...

The only reptile I keep wanting to try again is a chameleon. Raised a beautiful veiled cham from a baby but it died after a couple years. They're really fragile.

If you can keep the frogs alive, you shouldn't have any problems with a gtp

They're still not big really, crazy when mixed with fire though. They should all be shedding soon I will get updated pics when they do.

Love these guys. I've wanted a ball python for years. Just never pulled the trigger. I'd love a retic but I don't think a 10+ ft snake would be appreciated in my house.

Go for a Super Dwarf. Here's a comparison pic I took the other day, they're two days apart in age and a little over 7 months old. The Purple Super Sun is about 4.5 feet while the Kalatoa is 2.5 feet if that. I have some SD adults that are between 6-8 feet.

That's the perfect size fully grown. Hadn't even considered one until you mentioned one. I'm sure the price tag is rather high however. Which is another problem for me and snakes. I'm not really into the whole "paint jobs" thing really, they're all cool to me so I'm fine with a base model :p But even still I'm sure they aren't exactly cheap.

The SD locales are pricier now that retics cant be imported into the country anymore because of Lacey, but not super high, around $400-700. If you do look for them, stay with Kalatoa, Madu, and Karompa if you can find them. They've been proven to stay the smallest of all the SDs.

That's not too bad. But yeah, finding them isn't easy. Considering ball pythons are a rarity around here. Most people I know with snakes had them shipped. Which would make me nervous honestly. I work in shipping, and with how things can be handled itd make me nervous having something alive in a box. 95% of the time theyd be just fine. But you never know. We have a guy that ships fish alive, and we haven't had a complaint yet. So I guess it can't be too bad.

Not too bad, anytime I've shipped or received high end animals or really large retics, I usually just use Delta Dash, since its cheaper and usually only in transit for a few hours. It only costs me $125 bucks a few months ago to ship a 130 lb retic to the Easy Coast from AZ. Otherwise, use Ship Your Reptile which uses FedEx so 24 hour turnaround.

Thank you, have a few more to shed and then on to trying to get them eating well. It can be a bit of a process at times
