Well I decided I might as well have a thread for my semi truck as I like to work on it probably even more than I do my Taco!

I'm only 18 so I can only drive locally (intrastate) so it's just a day cab, anyways it's a 1997 Freightliner FLD with a Turbocharged 12.7L S60 Detroit Diesel that puts out 550HP and 1550 FT-LB of torque. Its got a 10 Speed transmission and about 800,000 miles on it! Which isn't a lot for a 15 year old truck!

    Here are both my trucks!

I changed the water pump last weekend, took me about 13 hours of labor but had to run to several auto parts stores, so I easily had 15 hours into it..but it was worth it considering it saved me about $900!

Here is just SOME of the coolant out of the 14 gallon coolant capacity!

Nice rigs, both of them! I like semi's myself...

What's the story on the semi? How is it that you do the work yourself and you can do all this at 18?

Nice! I started driving at 18 myself. Got out of it at 23 because I found what I thought was a better deal. Now I'm in the corporate world. Not a day goes by that I don't miss it and think about going back.

    Thanks guys!

Nice! It's never too late to go back! I could never work a normal 8-5 job..it's just not for me...I love trucking! And idc what anyone says or thinks, it does take a certain level of skill to drive a truck..Think you'll ever go back to it?

For sure man, my dad drove and now owns a small trucking company so I've been around trucks my whole life...definitely can't get it out of your blood. I love it though. Chose to do this and start working hard and making a living for myself rather than go to college. School isn't for me. All my friends have left for school today, so I have nobody around..I work all week then work on my truck or trailers all weekend...Definitely not the life of an average 18 year old..or career path. but I'm happy

    Thanks brah

Well I'm only local, but usually around 500...But I never where I might get another load to, so it always changes! Like Today I drove 250 miles and I'm gonna have atleast a 300 mile day tomorrow. So I'll be around 1,000 miles this week

How did you get your Class A? Did you go to a trucking school? Or did your dad help you out?
I've always been interested in getting mine.

Well, every other day I threaten to my wife that I'll go back. I also keep renewing my CDL, physical and TWIK card.lol I've been talking to a company about working weekends hauling recyclables for them. That'll at least give me that feeling back part time. Hopefully that quenches the thirst but somehow I don't think it will.

The biggest problem is the company I work for now pays well, has good benefits and I have a company car so it's not like they're giving me a reason to leave, but I think deep-down I want to go back.
