Very nice job on both your fj cruiser and Tacoma, you will definitely enjoy the 4.88's and ARB. The red letter grabbers look awesome on the stock wheels I think you could get away with a set of 1.25 wheel spacers on the front if your new wheels are not in the immediate future. Again great job and look forward to your future plans with the truck.

Awesome Truck! Very nice work on both the taco and the fj.

    Couple quick questions..
For the Dual Battery set up you have from columbia overland, their website doesnt show a fit for the 2nd gen tacomas, is yours not listed on the site or did you just use a 1st gen one? Also am I correct to think that the 2 batteries fit in the same place as the single stock one? If so, that is a great space saver.

For the Baja Rack.. I think i read somewhere in here that you said it can be mounted to the double cab factory mounting locations? so with no factory rack or thule or yakima rack required? I have a thule rack now but would like to upgrade to a basket, but dont want a basket on top of the thule rack because it will be so tall and I dont think it will look good.

I definitely think I will be taking your idea about rhino lining the lower kick panels.

Keep up the great work!!

The pics don't show anything that will help. I sealed the airbox and ran PVC from the rubber tube from the snorkle into the box. hope this helps

Call larry at CO http://www.columbiaoverland.com/ and he can help you out, it is one of the prototypes, tell him you saw mine on TW. the 2 batteries are XS Power D5100's and yes it does save a ton of space.
As for the rack, the best bet is to call John at 760-477-1599 and tell him what you want ot do. Cris

Added a Load Tamer cargo net and their Quickie tie downs, they really work great for securing the racks equipment. cargonets.com

I painted the cap flat black (kept the roof white to keep cool in the desert.)

Why did you switch out the 255's for the 285's? Was looking into 255's myself... advice?

Look back in his build. Link to expeditionportal. 255s have less rolling resistance saving your drive train and mpgs. Also have greater vertical down force allowing you (your tires) to adapt and meld to rock formations better. Not as good in sand or snow where you'd want to float and you'd have to slow on cornering on road but overall better for trail/expo/shtf

Yea I read that, but now I cant find it.. just checked every page twice and couldnt find the link anywhere. I'm still curious why he swapped out the 255's for 285's. I see he wrote the 285's handle better and arent as loud, but that they do rub a little.
Thanks though, any info is good. I was wheeling all weekend with a guy that has 255's and they looked awesome.

Sorry guys I haven't looked for a few days. I had the opportunity to run the Generals so I switched them out. I have ran quite a few different tires on my rigs and they all have advantages and disadvantages. The thing with the 255's is they have an appearance that sets them aside from most other tires and the typical truck. I live where it snows and the desert is only 30 minutes away so I have to have a tire that will work in a broad spectrum. I will post a review on the grabbers in a few months. What really got me interested in them was a demo at the SEMA show. Ford had them on some Raptors and were giving people rides. To say they were abusing the trucks and tires is an understatement! Hard cornering, sliding, burn outs, jumps and at the end of the week the tires were in great shape, so I was impressed. I guess it really boils down to personal preference and where you live and drive.

Cool! Thanks for your input, I decided against the 255s, went for 265/70/17 duratracs. Really wanted to get the grabbers after looking around at them but they don't have them in the size I needed.
I look forward to seeing your review and good luck with them.

the size selection is not to good. I will have a chance to give feed back on them and that's the #1 thing negative that I hear about them.
