    ND...The boat has a broken mast. Chevy 350's are cheap. A day with some basic wrenches, and a saw, and you will have the fastest "Sail boat" out there!

    If we got the mast fixed and got the sail up, would it be possible to power it with a couple of leaf blowers? People on shore or in passing water craft would be amazed. We could stand just behind the sail, leaf blowers aimed up and running.

    Not quite correct. If you were in the stern blowing forward into the sail it wouldn't work.... But if you were on the side of the boat even with the mast, blowing the air into the sail which would have to be let about half way out you would move the boat slowly forward.

    Nope. Newton's law of motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. There's just as much force pushing you against the boat which cancels out any force you would exert on the sails. It's just the same as trying to physically push on the mast with your hands, which would exert much more force than the leaf blower. No matter where you stand on the boat, it won't move because your legs exert the same force in the opposite direction that you're pushing.
