Very briefly, I love the look of them. However I feel like if I went that route without lt suspension I would just be posing. Up here there isnt a great need for lt suspension. Majority of it is mudding in swamps/fields, and going throUgh some light trails. But man do they ever look sweet!

I did the same thing about 2 years ago. Rear ended someone while I was going about 35-40, impact at about 20 mph (give or take 5). I totaled the poor jetta. My truck barely had a scratch because of a winch and bumperguard. I ended up with one bend in the bumper guard, which forced a bolt holding a tow hook on the guard into my bumper. Insurance gave me 700 for it I think. I took the 700 (plus my own cash) and repaired a scratch on my tailgate and my rear bumper....I should have got a color matched instead of chrome then....oh well

Glad you are ok, good luck dealing with insurance.
and if by some reason it is totaled, do your best to take out anything that can be saved and sold or transfered (like audio systems, or if you have wet okoles)

Update: SGI (my insurance company) has finished looking at my truck and decided to put a guarantee on it. For those of you who are not familiar with the term they assess the value of your truck. From there they can determine how much they will repair your vehicle for before it is a total loss and they right it off. usually(and in this case) it is 75% of the vehicles value. So my truck is guaranteed for $27,300. Which means they value my truck roughly at $36,500. Thats before i submit any receipts for aftermarket parts to increase the value of the truck. That being said their current estimate to date is $14,263.90.

So i'm happy to say they towed the truck over to our shop late on friday. Haven't had a chance to look at it but i know i'll be adding a lot more to their estimate. It's a long way from being a TL but not sure if i want to try and make it or not yet. We shall see once we start taking it apart. Here's a couple pics once it was dropped off. i'm going to keep everyone updated as the repair process continues.

Update on my truck with some pictures. I'm still doing the supplement and i'm just about done. Current total right now is at $20,400.00. I should have about $1000 or so to add before i show the insurance company. But thought i would share some photos of the hidden damage.

I'm surprised insurance is even making you go through the teardown.

When my '93 Blazer got rear ended, they took one look at the tailgate and said "Total"
Didn't even take it to a shop.

You are very lucky to be working at a shop and be able to take it there to watch over it step by step. I wish I could do something like that. Glad that you are okay. :)

/\ might be getting a pm when my truck gets fixed ;)

yeah its a grille craft grille with trd adhesive emblem.

The insurance company deemed it repairable as long as its under $27,300. The 'teardown' is part of our process at the shop for repairs. I require it on almost every vehicle i work on so i can see all hidden damage for my supplemental estimate. I'm extremely lucky i get to watch my truck go through the process. I figured some folks would like an inside look on what their vehicles go through. Our shop is a bit different then some in the sense that its kind of like an assembly line, continuously moving through the shop until all the repairs have been done and it is detailed out. Thanks to everyone for the positive comments!

The insurance company estimate was only for $14,300. I've added the rest through hidden damage.

We're just pulling out the rad support there cause the rads were pushed too far in to remove. Not entirely sure on the condition of the frame yet. definitely no sway, one rail might have been kicked down. His back bumper kind of just sheared over top of my rebar, hence all the damage. there is a bit of damage to the frame where the upper control arm/strut mount, but its not too bad. i'll know more tomorrow hopefully. All and all shouldn't take much to repair it.

Okay time for the final update. My final total on the estimate was over $20000 and was still under the allowed amount so it was not written off. I apologize both for the lateness of this update and the quality of the photos. they were taken with my shit camera phone. The reason i had to wait is both waiting for the bumper to arrive and then ultimately the correct headlight. They kept sending us the wrong one..
