    getting there....
i had a 2000 ford ranger, and going to work one day....girl ran the light and hit me with her honda accord. did $10k worth of damage to my truck and they fixed it....never was the same after that. she hit me from my front bumper and wheel well area...broke the wheel off from the spindle, all the way to the back of the truck......so hard it bent my rear axle when i landed, and her honda was well past totaled.

After seeing those pictures I have to say its def. totaled. Personally, I wouldn't want to drive that even if they were able to some how fix it because thats def one of those where it will never ride right again.

SEMPER P!! You bet we are.

    You big GM you...hahahahaha

First up- Glad that you are ok...That looks like it was a bit of a ride.

From the looks of it if they don't total it- That'd be a bad decision on their part. If they don't- That truck will NEVER be the same. You will be chasing bugs and quirks around forever.
Good luck getting them to write it off!!

If this vehicle ever makes it on the road again it will have a salvage title Since you're not interested in keeping the truck as an insurance buyback, it will be towed to a salvage auction and sold to an auto recycler or a rebuilder. A recycler will dismantle it and sell the parts. A rebuilder will sell the car in current condition or fix the car and resell it as a rebuilt salvage.

It may be totalled but definitely does not look like a junk title.
My brother only buys good salvage title vehicles because he can 40-50% off the vehicle compared to a clean title.

Whether or not it is totalled depends on how much it is worth/how much you owe on it, and how much the damage costs to repair. My mother in law was hit in her brand new Camry about 5 years ago. Air bags deployed... the car looked like a total loss. But... it was a brand new $23,000 Camry. Even with the $17,000+ repair bill, the insurance company refused to total it, opting to pay for the repairs and save themselves a little cash. The good news is that she still has that Camry, and it still feels like a new car! Hard to believe, but you've got to hand it to Toyota quality...

 After seeing the pictures, can't help but think it's amazing you weren't hurt! Things can be replaced, people can't. Good luck with the insurance. Hope they total it for you. I don't think it would ever be the same if they tried to fix it.

I would hope that they total that. No telling what kind of problems you might run into long term if they decided to do repairs. You might as well cut your losses and get a new one. Good thing you're ok.

Just got off the phone with the insurance company and it is a total loss.

They are giving me a little over $22,000 for it so that worked out good. I guess I will go hit the dealership lots this Sunday to take a look around and decide what I want.

Good for you! Because of this, the vehicle would be worth much less after the salvage.

    Be careful next time :playball:

I wouldn't be too upset if my truck was totalled. It would be a good excuse for a 4x4...
