    True.

Also, the white paint issue is actually across several brands. You can see it on hoods and roofs on minivans of older Honda’s and chevys.

This is a Super White paint issue across all the Toyota line. At one point I think Toyota d extended the paint warranty on some models to 100K. Not sure if the Tacoma in on the list or not. You could call the Toyota HQ and ask…

yeah, I got a '00 Ranger, the hood's white paint started to peel sometime back but can't remember when. If I were to guess the Ranger was 10-12 old before peeling

Just wanted to follow up so that everyone knows what's going on. Because I am one month past warranty, I was referred to the Toyota Customer Care...etc department. Nice lady spoke with me. Even called me back when the connection broke up.

Long story short, she wasn't able to provide a resolution and needed to escalate to her manager. I am allegedly going to get a call from this escalation department with a final answer. I don't have any hopes in this process, so if they say "no", I won't be too surprised. I'll update the thread once I hear back.

Dude. You could just trade it in for a different one not in white..

I get its not ideal. Toyota should fix it absolutely. But it's not like you're totally screwed here. Touch it up, make it look good, and go get a quote on a trade in for a similar used Tacoma in a different color. It will take a little searching, but they're out there. Cause like others said, that's only getting worse.

Based on my experience, every manufacturer has some areas where they drop the ball. If your QC issue with Toyota is at the point of no return, at least cash in on their resale value benefit. Good luck!

Seems all the manufactures have had paint issues at one time or another. Toyota just has the most with white, and blue for the last few years for some reason. They need to get their chit together like the other guys have done to correct their paint problems.

Just for the sake of updating, here are two recent photos of the paint peeling situation. I washed all the salt off the truck last night and flaked off some of the loose paint. I need to apply the touch up paint now and maybe a layer of clearcoat.
Also, Toyota called back and said the following "well sir, since you are just one month out of warranty, we cannot help you. But we more than happy to refer to your local body repair locations...etc". I feel like she could have started out her response in a different, less cliff-hanging, manner. lol

Seeing how this is a known issue, I’d look into a class action lawsuit against Toyota and the paint manufacturer (PPG?).

Thats rough my 97 4runner white paint still looks new with no peeling or clear coat issues. I have a 2019 OR Tacoma with super white and thankfully no paint issues. Could it be a climate issues? Cali is dry and doesnt see much rain or snow.

I drive the 4runner more then the 2019, both equally get crap gas mileage.

that 4runner is the easiest thing to drive. Yeah, mileage was never Toyota truck/suv's strong point.

Not sure where to even start with a class action lawsuit, to be honest. Im sure if all the people on this forum with this same exact issue were to join together, Toyota would actually do something about it. The strange thing is that most people have been experiencing the paint peeling in the same exact area of the same exact door.

Probably because that 4runner was made in Japan
