Great fab work, everything looks clean. I need to replace my fabd crossmember for a beefy tube one like that.

I'm not man enough, it looks like the stock one got butchered with some random tube they have and it's not even capped. Your have made this a turn for the better for the truck it's looking great.

A little update. I was able to get into the shop today. I have started the relocation of the fuse / relay block. we knew from the get go that it would be in the way of our shock towers. I have seen several different approaches to dealing with this. some guys just extend a few wires and move it to the side but we wanted a little something different. The complete build has been nothing but fighting for space. unlike a lot of builds we knew everything that would eventually be put in this truck so we have planned for most of it. the plan for the fuse block all along has been to move forward behind the driver side head light as close and low as possible to allow the towers and coil overs the space they need and allow for the addition of an auxiliary fuse panel and relay block. something similar to a SPOD but probably built from scratch. we will be building a slick little aluminum bracket to remount the fuse OEM block. But any how on to the chop shots. these four pictures lapse about 2 hours

when complete the wire extensions will be put in looms and fastened neatly to the fender wall with OEM type fasteners. stay tuned

that looks terrifying to cut all those wires!

I guess with them in bundles and labeled correctly it will just be matching colors back up and splicing them in. shit ton of work though!

it isn't too bad. it looks like a lot there and that is very true. but if you take your time and label each wire on both sides like I did then cut them it is not bad at all. The wire extensions were tagged with masking tape tags labeled what bundle they came from and the OEM wire color. each wire prior to cutting was labels with wire labeling numbers on both sides of the cut and the cuts are staggered so the bulk of the splices are not all in one location. It is extremely important to do it this way because there are multiple wires colors that are duplicated…some colors have three or more represented in the wiring harness

OK. it is time for an update. The wheel finished up at the powder coaters this week and were picked up Friday. We use DJ powder Coating in Kernersville NC. they do a fantastic job every time and have great prices. Most of the rest of Friday was spent mounting the tires and assembling the headlocks. I believe the first picture is the only one in the build thread of me doing something. I am usually the one who stops to take pictures.

headlocks were installed and torqued down per manufactures spec. and then rechecked

we also installed the new and very sexy aluminum links

and I faced up a nice little aluminum mounting bracket for the primary fuse and relay box.

and at some point I decided that ALL the crap that came from Ballistic Fab was not going to be on this rig. David built some new lower link tabs. This also involved fabricating a home made press brake for the shop press since I can't seam to find mine.

    bracketcopy_zps896d7cbe_bee68aee16c0731ab78ccf9f2e8791a4762656c1.jpg

Another HUGE development happened this weekend and since the cats gotten out of the bag already I can talk about it a little.David and I have decided to make a go at a legit off road fab company. Articles of organization and all the fun lawyer stuff is all ready in the works. what he lacks I have and what I lack he has. This project from the start has been a great expirance in team work and has been a great working expirance for both of us. The brackets above are going to be our first production product. More information on those brackets and other products that we are developing will fallow later.
Stay tuned as we will be in the shop tomorrow. Goals for tomorrow include but are not limited to building and replacing the axel side panhard bracket. doing the flex test and checking for clearance and completing the wiring harness modification.

It wouldn't be a problem to send out a kit immediately if you were ready to tackle some of the gray areas yourself. Basically the same thing that's already out there, but with more refined fabrication.

We are more or less working on a plug and play DIY system that straightens out the kinks of dealing with this particular style of Tacoma.
