Love the install in the overhead panel. Ive found that if its installed on the upper section of the panel by your left leg, the dang steering wheel blocks it and you cant see it.

But mounting it up above must be a beast to wire.

For my elite it's just a network cable so running a long one up the A pillar wouldn't be much work at all. I would consider moving it if I towed a bunch, but I don't own a trailer and I've only towed once. The other downside to driver cubby is that I hit my knee on it sometimes, even with it as close as I can get to the steering wheel.

OP you don’t happen to have a mount for a 5th gen 4Runner would you?

No, not specifically. I made this for my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Can't say for sure whether it would fit anything else besides the 3rd Gen Tacomas.

I hope to figure out 2000-2006 Tundra at some point. With OP’s help.

The one thing I wish the Pro had that it doesn't is a trailer brake controller. I'm OCD and not willing to drill into my dash, so the Redarc seems like the ideal solution. The trouble is that I don't have a normal/small blank available in the Pro. The only blank I have is where the Clutch Start Cancel button would go in a manual transmission truck, and it's a bit larger than every other button/switch. Does anyone know if there is a blank for the Redarc that would fit this? @REDARC_Ryan is this something you guys provide?

Also, @pgfitzgerald do you have any of the mounting brackets remaining? Looks like a much more secure way to mount it.

I'd just get an aftermarket dash panel and cut a little. :sawzall: It's looks fine.:notsure:

Yeah, that's exactly where I installed mine.

I bought the package deal or combo or whatever they called it, and it came with the TPSI-001, which is the square-ish one I couldn't use.

So I also bought the TPSI-007, which is the right one for that spot. (So I concur with MGMDesertTaco in his post above)

Yes, I have brackets if you want one. Just send me a PM. :D

If you buy the tacoma/tundra bundled kit it will come with both toyota inserts, you get the factory harness adapter, and it will save you money.

Oh nice! The kit I bought at the time only included one of the 3 inserts. Excellent update!

The default Tacoma switch blank is small since we MT have the tall spot occupied. It’s a great choice for AT though.

Definitely nice to have the plug and play cable. Those are easy to find though.

I’m considering moving my switch to the overhead console. I hit my knee on it a bit. And I don’t tow. It’s nice in the cubby spot though.

I made my own bracket for my 5g 4Runner. Didn't realize the kit didn't come with a mount until I started installing it.

I ended up doing the same. Used a flat bar and bolted it to the same bolt hole.
