Thank you for having these made @pgfitzgerald - this is my second Redarc TowPro install and with your mounting bracket it’s by far the best one. The kit you put together is complete and well thought out - MUCH appreciated! This time around only doing a few mods, and the Redarc brake setup is one I wasn’t going to skip. I 100 percent love plug and play! Total install time was just under an hour, and I was in no particular hurry. Highly recommended! :) 3F616CD3-D6CF-4AB2-BD32-32DB4270D2C7.jpgE5D462C4-0AC0-483B-9A55-89C288EF9C8D.jpgB8F1EB81-C181-41F8-93A2-E6F9A84670E3.jpg

Just finished installing the Tow Pro Liberty controller. It went great, certainly can't imagine a cleaner install. I should have picked up one of the sweet mounting bracket kits from pgfitzgerald, but the controller arrived and I couldn't wait to put it in. I bascially zip-tied the unit up where the aforementioned bracket goes, I used two heavy zip ties and got them really tight, so it feels pretty solid.

One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere was the option for the whole Tacoma/Tundra kit from Redarc:

    https://www.redarcelectronics.com/us/tundra-tacoma-brake-controller-kit

I purchased the kit, it has the controller, harness and THREE different switch blanks so you can choose where you want to put it. I'm pretty sure the kit was cheaper than buying the controller, harness and one blank separately.

I installed mine in the open spot shown below. Now I just need to calibrate and try it out. Very happy with the end result so far.

It has been some time since I installed my unit, please inform me/us just what calibration there is to do. All I recall is adjusting the knob for the amount of BRAKE needed for a certain load and that is carried out with each hitching.

I guess to be more clear, when the unit is powered on for the first time (or after a battery disconnect), it auto-calibrates itself while driving. The manual says it needs approximately 20 braking events to orient itself to direction of travel.

One other thing I noticed, the unit appears to be powered when the vehicle is off. I get the blue light when I press the dial even when the truck is off and the key is not near. Assuming this is normal? Hoping this isn't a tiny amperage drain on the battery.

Thanks for the clarification, I forgot about that as it happens automatically.
Everything has a parasitic drain on the battery.
You can now start your vehicle without putting your foot on the brake pedal. Press the brake button and then the push to start. Learned this is another thread.

I wasn’t 100% sure it came with 3 different blanks so thanks for confirming.

So I just got my liberty installed with the bracket. Was excited and forgot to take pictures. pgfitzgerald was great to deal with and I had the part promptly. Some recommendations for install. I would install the ethernet end control cable before putting the bracket in place or leave the bottom bolt a little loose so you can rotate the bracket and get it in. I could not get the cable in once everything was tightened for the life of me. Also a ball end allen will be your friend. I got mine in a kit from opticsplanet. They always have discount coupons and free shipping also their kit came with the tacoma harness adapter and the mounting plates for the controller designed to fit the factory panel.

    Hi everyone,

I too, also contacted pgfitzgerald to help me out with the custom made bracket he offered to sell. The bracket is amazing and it's quality is also outstanding. I am currently waiting for my Redarc kit to arrive which I ordered.

I also would like thank acorn27 who referenced the mulit kit that is offered by Redarc which is the one I ordered.

I'll definitely post up more pics when I complete the task within time. 20230311_203304.jpg
