You are going to love the system. I just did mine last weekend. It will take you about 3-4 hours. It is not overly complicated.

From my perspective it depends on what you want to get out of it. You could likely build a better system out of different components for a cheaper price but with this system it takes the guess work out of researching the latest components and what works with the Tacoma. I used to be big into car audio but I don't have the time to piece together a system and wire it all up from scratch. This system pairs all the components needed for the Taco, with all the wiring connections, tuned for the truck so it removes a lot of the guess work.

The sound quality is crisp throughout the lows, mids, and highs. It is pricey though, if you have the budget I say it is worth it.

So what is a fair price for the system ? <$1000 ?

The price that OEM is selling it for.

First law of economics: If you can get, it's worth it.

Ok install done. Took me pretty much all day. Started around 11am. Very easy to install. These guys have the most perfect system for the diy guy. Everything was perfect. Even the power wire that ran to the battery was the perfect length if you ran it how they recommend. It's well worth it imo. Like everybody said in the reviews I read, the bass isn't going to blow your head off. I didn't want that anyway. Bass is tight. Where this system excels is the mids and highs. It's MUCH louder than stock and you can crank it up with no distortion. Can you get better for the money? Maybe but I'm more than happy to pay to get the oem feel. No cutting wires no crap. Everything just fits. Doesn't look like a 16 year old kid installed it. Looks factory. The customer support Is amazing. These guys care. I'm very happy with my purchase. I never heard the jbl package but from what I read it blows it away. It most certainly blows my stock system away. If your on the fence I say go for it.

    Thanks for posting the update.

How was the interior trim/panel removal and re-installation? Is it easy to break any tabs or hooks or whatever? How is the risk of ending up with loose panels and interior pieces here and there (if a person is hasty or sloppy)?

I have a request. Can someone with this system play a bass heavy song and video the rear view mirror? I'm still debating between this or piecing together my own system and my biggest concern is what that sealed 8 can do.

I broke half of a clip. I was able to reuse it though. Everything went back together good. I was scared of rattles but none at all. Just as tight as a mouses ear. Perfect !

If you want massive bass this isn't for you. I would explain it as for lack of a better word more mature sounding. tight base but not overpowering. More mids and nice crisp Highs. Louder and clearer

Impressions with and without sub-woofer? I'm really not liking the idea of giving up that storage compartment.

The clips that hold the panels are surprisingly strong. The good thing is if a clip breaks it can easily be replaced. The clips are not permanently mounted to the panel.

Depending on what you keep in your truck, it's likely you won't miss the space. There is a larger space on the other side and under the seats.

I don't want or need massive bass but it has to be there.. in full. Crisp and clean is exactly what I want but still concerned the sealed 8 might not cut it.

8" sub specifically tuned for the interior of our trucks in conjunction with full spectrum speakers should not leave any bass on the table.
