I'm just waiting for the Fed ex truck. I'll be getting my snorkel tomorrow. Anyone have any advice for installing it?

I've already done a HC rear bumper. What's one more little hole after that?

The template that came with worked pretty well for the most part. I pressed it into the body line when I made my marks. This caused the mounting stud holes to be a little close together vertically. I had to ream out a couple of them for a proper fit.
Here I am trying to not s#$t a brick.

My fears were justified when the hole saw got away from me for a second. Luckily it's almost unnoticeable after the snorkel body was on. Holes got done.
I filled down any burrs and did a quick touch up job with some color match paint just to protect the bare metal.

Here are some finished product pics.

Nice. I think they look alittle big. But understand they had to do that for the supercharged guys. It's nice that you don't have to "make it work" like with the hilux one.

There was nothing to really "make it work" with my hilux one. I think that changes are made to the template and as long as you follow that, it's fine. Looks way cleaner IMHO

Thanks! The install was pretty easy. The hardest part (besides sawing on my taco) was the highest mounting screw, up by the antenna. I couldn't get a ratchet up there so I had to just use a wrench and turn it 1/4 turn at a time. Other than that it was just some screws and hose clamps. I really like that it matches up to the body line. The tiny gap on the Hilux kit would make me crazy.

'splain to me - is this just for the "cool" factor, or do you really intend to submerge your truck? Hmmmmm

I live in the AZ desert. This is more for dust protection than anything. Moving the intake out from under the fender really helps keep dirt out of the filter. But I did also seal up the drain holes in my air box as well as do the diff breather relocate mod. I'm planning to install an electric fan in the future too. Then if I really want to I can cross a deeper body of water but I don't plan to.

The modified template I got with mine was a little off. But it wasn't too bad. Dosnt quite fit the body lines. Also if I had to do it again I would move it a little. It was a bitch trying to get the bends figured I had to cut the elbow they supplied me.

Snorkels primary purpose is to minimize/mitigate dust in the air intake. Common misconception that they are for submersion.

Edit: GYOAZ beat me to it.
