Thanks for this write up. You help make it seem easier. I have to take off my bumper and everything to put on a new reinforcement bar so I am thinking about doing this then.

I'm thinking of doing the bumper as well and having the grill repainted before I put the mesh on. I like the inner part to look color matched as opposed to black. Also needing to repaint my bumper as well while its off. I have some damage and its the perfect time to do all this. jeesh not looking forward to all the work. Pretty much taking the whole front end off to do this.

Love this!!!!! Just about to order the Perforated SS from customcargrills.com in black for my '11 Tacoma. How far back into the grill do you place the mesh? Also is there something more permanent than Zip-Ties to use?

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
there is nothing more permanent than zip-ties! if a zip-tie breaks, use another!

Honestly, I had mine for 4 years with the method described in my write-up. Took a concrete divider head on and the grill stayed put (with the rest of the front end that moved haha).

If you are concerned, they do make metal zip-ties.

    None yet. Soon to come.
Great writeup. Ive never been a cosmetic-modder but i really like how these look, especially when I install my URD CAI...Show it off a little.

Whoever else has done this...is there another way to mount the grill material? epoxy or glassing it in maybe?

Sorry if this has been addressed, but how do I mount the mesh so there is a thin lip versus the OP's deep dish?

When I mounted my mesh I just cut it with snips where the plastic supports remaining on the grill lip where. Just formed it all by bending it around the lip. I used pretty flexible material for my grill though

"The little squares are little mounts where zip-ties can slide through, which will then be attached to the grill."

What are these little squares you speak of?? :) Where did you get them, I like the ideal of 10 or 20 ties vs. 6 studs...

    Thanks..

So I moved my horns to the side and now my horns don't work and my viper alarm doesn't beep when I lock/unlock my truck. Anyone know what the issue is? I checked the wiring and nothing is pinched and also swapped connectors on the horns still got nothing. I checked the fuse and it's still good too. It is super odd. Anyone experience this problem? Can anyone help me out on this?

Side note. That sensor that is with the horn wiring assembly, did yall just keep it with the horns or moved it back next to the radiator?
