Hahaa, thought you might want to defrost. I thought 4wd Toyota’s were priced higher up there.

Some, but there seem to be plenty 4 runners. Or at least not enough of a difference to suffer in FL. I defrosted in Vegas last month. And it's beautiful and warm here now.

Get some boots, crampons, and ice axes! Yes there are dry places. Garden of the Gods, the Mesa just east of Golden. Can't think of it's name right now.

    North table mountain.

Those both mean seeing people... I don't like people.

And no interest in ice climbing! I'll stick to sport for the foreseeable future.

I’d be down for a TW climbing meet. I have a harness and some shoes I should dust off and get back out there. I even remember all the knots and stuff!

Sport climbing basically means you are going to see people lol. Most climbers are respectful though and friendly as I'm sure you have found.

Oh yeah, I was referring to the population in general not the climbers.

Gotcha, you do become quite the spectacle when climbing at the garden of the gods.

Just copying this from the local thread... :censored:

    -------------
But on Sunday i decided to go to home Depot via Weston Pass since it's been nice and i live right by it. I had seen rigs coming off of it so I figured they had been over. (Turns out that want the case)

I made it up and over the top without much issue. On the west side there was a huge dip and sunk the truck into the snow.

Daylight was fading so i started to clear out from under the truck. I have gloves and a hiking pole... Of freaking course. With no weight in the back it wouldn't get grip and no cell service. Continued to dig out and warm up in the truck. Fast forward 3 hours and it was pitch black and windy. I got some traction and it started to rock back and forth. Digging out the front end i saw smoke, opened passenger door and there were flames on the drivers seat bottom.

I threw as much snow in as i could but it wasn't phasing it at all. After choking on smoke i grabbed a jacket, phone and backpack that were in the truck from work on Friday.

I hiked up to the top of the pass, called my cousin and 911. Then hiked another 1.5 miles to fire and medics.

The seat heater was on high as soon as i got stuck and i left it on since i was getting in and out to hear back up. It and wires that went out and under the truck for the roof rack lights were the only electrical under the seat which is why my guess was the heater. I had two layers on at that point so I'm not sure if the seat itself was hotter than usual.

I borrowed a land cruiser and got up to it this morning... It had been moved from the hole, completely burnt out. We're trying for a recovery and I'm trying to keep the trail open as it's dumping snow now but it's an easy trail.

I didn't get home until 11 that night, trying to work and figure stuff out and feel like shit.

Disclaimer: yes i am current on all payments, have no money issues and sure I'll be screwed over by insurance. You get what you pay for...

Dude, so sorry! That sucks that it got you all over the continent and then this happens right near home. You got most of the mods off before though right?

That is crazy. Such a tragic end to such a epic road trip you had. What a real bummer. Walking out 1.5 miles in the dark couldn't have been much fun. Glad you made it out.

I can't believe this happened. Really glad you're okay and got to safety. Good luck with your recovery and the insurance company. I hope it goes well with both.
