After about 25,000 miles. Luckily I kept the original as a spare. Not sure what caused this?

those aftermarket BANDOs seem to be shredding up a lot take a look at some of the AMAZON reviews for that model, there is a big difference in the quality of the OEM Bando vs. the aftermarket BANDOs from what ive gathered, the OEM Bando is about 3 times more costly but worth the money

That sucks but it makes me feel better. I was concerned that I balled something up when I installed it.

I guess Bando makes “second rate” belts for the aftermarket? Whole reason I went with Bando was I thought they were the OEM manufacturer.

take a look at the AMAZON reviews some peeps having the same shredding on those BANDOs same model, same truck. those shredding are the US made, I think the OEM s are JAP made version hence the high cost(import) there is a striking difference in quality my OEM for a 2.7l is $80 versus the $25 for a stateside version

Bando is the OEM maker but as noted above there are crappy US made versions and quality Japanese made versions.

All manufacturers make parts for the manufacturer(oem parts) and parts for the auto zones, Napa’s, pep boys etc. they are not the same. No matter what anyone says they are not the same quality. It’s not just the dealer marking up price, parts at the dealer are made to certain specs required by Toyota. And like be always said you get what you pay for. Not that every part has to be bought at the dealer but some parts should be.

Consider you could have a bad pulley somewhere in the system. Bearing failing or improper installation of a part with a pulley as part of it can cause wobble, misalignment and belt failure.

Or you could have just had a bad belt.

I've seen folks put 3 groove pulleys on were 4 were the requirement, but the belt rarely lasted very long.

But before buttoning it all back up it's worth checking everything out.

OEM only. My original one went 100k before i pulled it off and put it under the rear seat just incase. Replaced with an OEM toyota belt as well.

Its funny, belts now adays typically wont show signs of cracking, etc like old belts back in the days. Now what you do get is groove wear which is hard to see without a gauge / feeler comb

Look at the 3 idlers and the tensioner. At 155k mine were bad and the tensioner was grooved and grating. Got the 3 idlers and tensioner assembly with a belt all OEM online at TotyotaPartsDeals for $300. A big pain to put the tensioner on so I figured 10 years 155k why not pay $100 more and go OEM.

I already replaced the factory idlers with Gates pulleys but after this Bando belt issue, I just ordered three OEM pulleys from ToyotaPartsDeals. Don’t trust any non-Toyota parts right now.
