I've done all the demo work, and have most of the new supplies to install, but need an experienced tile guy, mostly.

The tiny tiles on the bottom were super hard to remove so I stopped trying. I have the concrete board for the walls, but need help with the ledge and window areas. And I can't tile to save my life.

Looking for someone reputable and reasonably priced. A bonus would be someone who'd let me assist with the work to reduce time and labor. Thanks!

Marty used to be the go to guy for shower and tile. Too bad he was banned and decided to never come back. Good luck in your search.

    You and me both man.
I feel your pain. Look at the mess I’m in.
My father thinks he needs a tile shower.
    I’ve learned, I don’t want a tile shower……
It’s a lot of work, and a lot of work I too don’t know how to do.

Yep, I remodeled mine once 16 years ago. It needs it again, but not by me. Never again, tile sucks.

oh damn! I was really thinking about getting those plastic show inserts, but they just won't work for this space. I learned after the demo, that this shower is not original to the house. Apparently was only a half-bath, and shower was added on later.

Try getting a hold of @Madjik_Man , he knows Marty. Maybe he can get him to pimp your bathroom.

I remember that. He was doing my kitchen when the ban occurred for something stupid I can't remember. It was for 30 days but then he proceeded to ban TW permanently.

He does great work but I believe he moved into project management and no longer has a remodeling business.

He did both of my bathrooms too. Not to mention all the smoked meats I bought from him.

There's a laundry project coming up soon and I hope I can talk him out of remodel retirement.

Professional Tile guy here, 20 years of experience doing everything from hotels to restaurants to multi million dollar houses, can't help you physically because I don't live in your state but can give you some advice.

That shower pan has to be completely removed, it will 100% leak. Get a sledge hammer and smash the shit out of it and it should all just break apart. The tile is on a concrete bed on your concrete floor so you won't damage the floor. Plus you need to do that anyways to install a new drain.
Look up "mud bed shower pan" to see how it all goes together

The sheetrock around the window should be removed as well, the $10 you save by leaving it on isn't worth the headaches it will cause in a few years when tile starts falling off the wall.

As for tiling if you wanted to tackle it your self here is what I would do -

Schluter and Wedi both make DIY shower pan kits with wall board, they are a bit pricey but as long as you follow the directions (and watch some YouTube videos) you will have a water tight shower pan that is custom fit. The styrofoam wall board is sooooooo much easier to deal with than Durock (Hardiboad is even worse) it may cost a bit more but it will save tons of time and headaches.

Use mesh pebble stone for the shower pan, it is very forgiving so you don't have to worry about making great cuts around the drain and perimeter. Honestly most of the time when I install mesh stone I am able to pull pieces off and rearrange them so I don't have to make any cuts.

For the walls a 3"x6" subway tile is the easiest to do, all you have to do is get the first row level and just stack them up.

Don't bother trying to use a straight cutter, rent a wet saw.

If you are going to pay someone, it will cost you more if you try to help.
A professional should be able to get that shower 100% completely done in less than 3 days.
Labor and materials will cost you $800-1000 for the shower pan
The walls about $15-25/ft depending on the tile you pick out

Marty's IG is Martyinco but he hasn't posted any remodel pics for a while.

Becca had her Bathroom re-modeled by marty but I can't remember her user name in here.

I just did mine. No tile, I used an acrylic glue on wall system. Way easier and looks fantastic. Good luck on your project!

I wanted to do that but wasn't sure about being able to cut it for the ledge and around window...?

You can always frame out the wall to get rid of the ledge and have a deep window jamb.

The impression I had was you use the part you cut out for the window opening and cut it into strips to fit the ledge and walls. I didn’t have to go that route though so I’m not totally sure.

I got some researching to do this next week. Just finished up my Tundra supercharger install, and no other immediate projects planned for it. Work bonus comes in this week, and was a little nicer this year. Gotta spend I all completing this damn shower!
