My simple stupid tailgate lock mod...

    Heavy Duty plastic cable ties

    Wrap around barrel hinge and pull tight...cut off tag end.

    Done!

    No paint scratch issues...cheap (actually free, I had the cable ties)

    Provides some security from the average tailgate thief.

    Zero effort. It actually took more time to take the pics...upload them...and make this post. lol

    Nice, but you could snap that thing with a simple key or flat blade screwdriver. It will deter the stupid ones though.

    Smart thieves don't steal Tacoma tailgates...they live in DC and steal from the tax payers.

    that's what i use for my tailgate, i dont think it works tho, because everytime i've had to remove the tailgate, i just have to slide the zip ties over

    Bak Flip bed cover, shorty antenna, Peripheral iPod interface, Garmin 750 mount, add'l bed tie down rings, Westin nerf bars, hitch safe, tailgate lock, Ideal 1 3/4" turn-key clamp to secure tailgate from removal, Spare tire security cable, spare tire stainless air hose extender, Fumoto oil drain valve, Amp Research Bed X-Tender w/Schlage Cable Lock, bed mat, Redline hood struts
    Use Ideal clamp with separate key.....not sure why everyone's worry about scratching...had mine on over a year. ZERO SCRATCHES.

    I might just be too honest to understand, but what the hell do people steal tailgates for? The scrap metal? To sell to other people that had their tailgate stolen?
