@Chase8059 choosing/ recommending speakers is rather subjective. How i like my music may not be what you like...
I would suggest bringing a CD of something you like and are familiar with and go audition speakers.
Go to the car audio stores first as they generally have better working sound boards. Pick a high end head unit as the source and listen away.

Agreed, and I'm no audiophile but it bothers me that on the highway with my windows down I want more volume when it's already at Max.

My history with car audio has always been upgrading headunits and adding an amp and subwoofer. The amp and sub will happen in the truck, as well as speakers and tweeters.

Sounds like if I want to keep the HU stock, I need one of those line out converters.

I'm just here for the info

The Entune in my 15' drove me crazy with it's lack of performance, could not hear it at highway speeds. Now,I have poor hearing but even the family complained. I didn't want/need anything fancy or difficult to install but I needed an upgrade. I went with a Kenwood HU and speakers. HUGE difference! Ordered everything from Crutchfield, and install was pretty simple. No more issues with sound, and it only cost me $420.

I'm wondering if your setup here would apply to 2016 ORDC non JBL system. For example, I like Alpine Power Pack and Hideaway concept. But I'm wondering if it is necessary to replace the HU?

You would not NEED to replace the HU, as the 3rd gen radio has more factory adjustment than the 2nd gen. The Hideaway can use line level inputs, so no extra wiring nonsense is needed. You just tap it off the rear speaker inputs. The PowerPack gets tapped in behind the radio, between the harness and speakers themselves. For the cost, it would be a great upgrade, since both the amp and the Hideaway do have their own gain and crossover control.

Think you put the money into the wrong doors of the truck. YMMV

That's correct. The PowerPack is a 4ch amp that'll do your speakers. The Hideaway is a powered sub, so it has its own amp. One of the biggest reasons people like this setup is you only have to run a single power wire, and there's no bridging or anything crazy, wiring-wise.
