There is actually a trail there. It was tire tracks going in and coming out of that no-go hole. That's one of the reasons why I decided to try it like an idiot. I do follow off-roading rules, 99% of the time

Sheer stupidity. Like I said there were tracks going in and out but obviously from a much larger vehicle.

He was on a trail, but its for very seriously built mud boggers. We stick to the trails everywhere we go.

Its not really off trail. This trail isn't that tight in this portion and going through there is no problem its just for those with bigger vehicles.
It would be considered off trail from what the trail is rated since its a much tougher portion from the rated 3 level trail that it is. But not a problem if you go off for more of a challenge that's all.

But I know what you mean. I was told to join one FB page called 416 trucks from some 4x4 page jus to post about the shit experience I had with a tire shop. Left after a few weeks when I realize most of the guys were the very idiotic fucks that will trespass on private land just to hit a mud hole, and basically just cause shit with the locals near the trails and give them fuel to get it where we can't use the trails anymore. Its a major piss off when people do this shit and ruin it for us enthusiast that want to respect the land.

Like the idiots that will get stuck and just floor it to try and get unstuck and destroy the trail. Hate them.

Seriously guys? How is the dealer going to "eat it"? The dealer is going to do the same thing they do to every vehicle, without exception or intrigue. Clean interior and exterior, maybe perform a few service items that people look for when test driving, then it sits on the lot for a few weeks until it sells to a customer. The dealer isn't eating anything. The customer who you say you would "totally disclose all issues" to is the one who would eat it. Convincing yourself that the dealership would be the one getting screwed in that scenario is just a copout of being a responsible adult, and being accountable for your own actions. You did this to this truck, no other individual should have to pay for it, particularly not some poor bastard who thinks he/she's buying a sweet used tacoma. This is just part of off-roading, and as responsible adults, we should not be passing these issues onto anyone, undisclosed.

Anyway, it sounds like the truck is running fine. If you continue to have vibrations, have that addressed immediately. I suspect those vibrations will disappear on their own, if they have not already. A quick compression test of each cylinder wouldn't hurt. As everyone said, flush all the lower fluids. There is no need to open the engine, as was suggested. Any damage would have been to the valves, pistons or rods, and you would not have driven it out of there with a smoothly running engine as you described, if those had any but the slightest damage. Keep an eye out for corrosion at any of the connectors (specifically inside the cab) that were submerged. If any of them were, take the time to inspect them every once in a while until you're satisfied no corrosion is starting. The water being fresh water was a saving grace. Getting stuff clean and dry as soon as possible was the best possible thing you could have done, and certainly saved you much headache down the road.

Your story just gave me an invention idea. Hmm...

    Awesome thread
Sorry you screwed yourself but man, what a great community you have up there. All the help you could’ve needed was there when you needed it the most. Not only that, you were able to preserve the truck as best you could. Good shit there for sure. Think of all the skills you learned, techniques, procedures....you’ve gone where few have been.

Considering all the $$ and mods already invested, keep the truck. Tons of good suggestions already made. Seems like it’s not your DD so you have some time to do it right.

    Good Luck!!
