I recently got into an accident and what looked to be pretty minor was 13k.

My insurance super cool and covered it minus deductible w/ out asking too many questions.

the repair shop I went to was good, just ask a lot of questions and remember they’re working for you. They tend to get the attitude that it’s their decision on repairs - it’s yours.

I requested no body work (bondo / PDR etc...) and asked them to replace any / all panels and doors that were damaged.

they did it - My truck is like new now.

ask a lot of questions! I wanted my old damaged parts for testing fabs / mods on but I waited to tell them and they already scrapped em.

You’ve got a pro that’s probably valued at around 35-40k - only way they’re going to total it is if the cost to repair exceeds that which is unlikely unless there is engine damage.

good luck man - be stoked your own body doesn’t need to go to the shop!

There’s a big difference in lying, and volunteering information.

@CrispyTacoLover - for sure. I told nothing but absolute truth to only the questions they asked

$32,000 for that? It looks like all front end parts. Did it bend the frame?

On mine, the damage was nearly $16000, but what ultimately caused them to total the truck was impact on one of the Cab Safety Beams (passenger front corner). It damaged the outer structural piece as well as the Ultra High Strength Steel piece which they said is basically automatic total loss.

Our trucks don't keep in the lane for us. No electronic steering.

ouch... seems like it would be more than 8k... how bad is the structural damage to the frame?

No frame damage. Front end damage and passenger fender damage. All the airbags went off so they had to replace all of them. I think there are 8 airbags. Not completely sure on the numbers of airbags. I think they also had to replace all of the interior as well.

I am going against everyone else and say that isn't that bad. Does the driver door open straight and have no gaps? A pillar damaged? If no, it's basically a fender, the fender structure straightened and a hood.

Im gonna say 9.5k-10k. I hit a guard rail and had damage to the entire passenger side of my truck, every panel. Suspension parts, body work, headlights, tail lights, bumpers, quarter panels, and bed side replacement. $9100.

I would think about getting a steel bumper to replace the front bumper, substitute led lights for the fog light and get some of those aftermarket led headlights. Take the insurance money and pay the difference out of pocket.
